Default Friendship Politics.

Today we are surrounded by "pretty" women on Billboards who make us feel like crap. Not only that, but everyday, we are faced with the struggles of the Politics of Friendship.

We go to school 5 times a week, and these days, we have the job of facing the "Popular kids" who to be honest, really aren't that popular because everyone hates them, "emo/scene kids" who people fear because they supposedly sit around cutting each other and listen to music that sounds like baby mumble, the "Jocks" who just plain smell most of the time because they're always playing football or something, "Nerds" who people avoid because they are 'Weird', when actually they just care about their future. I could go on forever. But what I'm saying is that we are surrounded by stereotypes and as soon as you step into Secondary / High school, people expect you to pick a group and stick to it for those 5 long years inside 4 walls.

Friends, especially girls, can be really annoying. Girls like to gossip, talk behind each others backs, betray and basically bitch about one another until they are blue in the mouth. We are surrounded by gossip, and our lives run on rumours. In order to survive the friendship challenge, and the high school rat race, you have to know the politics.

Don't be mean to girls about other girls. Don't make fun of a girl just because she gets her clothes from a mainstream logo, rather than a designer brand. No One understands why we feel the need to put each other down, but yet we still do it.

However, that being said, friends are the greatest aspect of a teenagers life. We need them for a shoulder to cry on, and ear to listen when we need to vent, a hand to hold when we feel insecure, eyes to see if we really do look good in the mini skirt, or if you just look trampy. Have friends is amazing. Being able to share memories, tears, laughter with someone else is an amazing gift. We make friends at a young age. We make many friends, and then as soon as you leave school, those who you thought you would be "BFFL", leave and move on, just like you do, when you go to a new workplace and meet someone even more special.

Friends help us grow, learn and live. They are essential in our lives, so that we always know there is someone there, even when we think there isn't.<3

if i could say anything about friendships, its that most of the time boy + girl best mates work best. same sex friendships arent as strong in girls, and when i've argued with someone, boys are more loyal. they also look out for you, and i just think they are way better friends!

tru... all dat
my best friend and i have an atypical set of issues, like gossiping is not one of them, but my other friends are just as b****y as most. i love 'em though.
i also have guy friends, and they're great, but i feel like there are certain things i can't talk about with them, unlike my female friends

Never commit to society, if you commit, u will b follow it and become lost. Since elem. school, I only befriended 4 guys. Today Im n College, and we still hang together: Drinkin the nite away, hangin with chicks, Playin video games, Wrestling, All the stuff normal friends do (Lol, we call ourselves the 5). I nevr gave a damn about othr kids in skool, even aftr rumors about me going down on all sorts of females rushed thru the skool (I thought It was funny, Haha.. Carpet Muncher) but yea, I was always a lone warrior in society. Im happy to say that they never made me their Slave

I think this is well said. Unfortunately there is always people who will insist on being complete jerks to us, and the real challenging is removing ourselves from them and their opinions, but not removing yourself from society so much so that we are scared to face it. That probably sounds like a bunch of humble jumble, but oh well.

You can't be too concerned with society's views on you, but at the same time you have to learn to accept them. But if you are who you are, and accept who you are, then their opinions, though accepted, will not mean nearly as much to you.
