Default United States - Education

Hi,

All teenagers in the United States are required to have an education. Though, some of you may not want an education, it is mandatory by law until a certain age.

In both high school and middle school students receive stress throughout the education experience each year. It may be due to social changes, home life, physical changes, and emotional changes that are apart of adolescence.

Some students have the fear of not being able to pass a class due to the difficulty or has not shown any effort in the class and needs a way to pass the class somehow.

Here are some suggestions:

1) Have you talked to your parents about school and what's bothering you? I recommend talking to your parent or guardian.

2) Have you or your parents notified the school administration or counselor? You should be able to notify your school counselor or school administration to help reduce the situation somehow.

3) Have you talked to the teacher in which subjects you are struggling upon with? The teachers will have motivation in helping you succeed. Remember, teachers are not there to get you. They are there to help you in any way possible. They will be happy to help you if you take the right steps to ask them. Do not wait until the last minute or it may be too late.

That being said, how else can I improve on trying to succeed in class?

1) Studying - Flash Cards, Study Review, Games (Comprehension), and memorizing.

2) Completing Homework/Projects - Homework and Projects are a chunk of a student's grade they have control over. Do your homework and know what you're learning. Do not copy homework or you may receive a discipline referral for cheating.

3) Completing Classwork - Work in class has been assigned, what should you do? Complete it like homework but promptly and in class. Ask the teacher help while he or she is present.

4) Test/Quizzes - Are you adequately prepared for the tests and quizzes after completing lessons or chapters? Try your best and make the question seem logical. After studying and completing homework/projects and classwork you should be able to do fine.

5) Tutoring - If you need a tutor, ask your parents to get you one. It can be after school with your teacher. Just ask your teacher and make arrangements prior to scheduling the appointment. Also, join a tutoring club where tutors can help you succeed.

I think it's good that kids are required by law to get a basic education but I really feel that the education standards in the US are lacking and really not up to par with the rest of the world.

Though I agree with your strategies, there has to be a motivation for learning, and current programs in place simply aren't what they need to be. When the US ranks 17th in the world in education, there's a problem. The teachers need to be more caring for their students as a whole. However, great article, and some great tips for studying.- JS
