Teenagers world-wide often become sleep deprived or restless sleep. They usually don't get too much which is usually the case or not enough sleep at all to function properly.
Teenagers need approximately 8 hours of sleep to function fully. However, do to social events or school or even can't sleep, teenagers do not get enough sleep they need.
This has been proven that sleep deprivation rate has increased over the years negatively.
What can happen if you're sleep deprived?
A) You may not function properly.
B) Delayed responses.
C) Aches & Pain
D) Lowered reflexes
E) Death (Although it doesn't seem realistic, it HAPPEN)
F) Extreme Fatigue
G) Irritation
I) Mood Swings
Although these are not all the symptoms of being sleep deprived, these are few of many.
In what ways can I improve my sleeping habits?
A) Try to have a daily schedule.
B) Make sure you have a good diet.
C) Try soft music before going to bed.
D) Drinking a warm glass of milk or drinking water.
E) Have a daily schedule of receiving sleep.
F) Limit naps.
G) Have the lights off.
H) Make sure you're comfortable.
Many teenagers don't realize that sleep is important. It's important to recognize that it is a necessity. You need to have sleep to function properly and to learn at school if you're a student or to work. It is like eating and drinking, you need to eat and drink to be able to survive.
If you cannot sleep or have a problem of sleeping, contact your doctor or physician.

Let me add a couple of points: First, limit caffeine...and that comes in a lot of soft drinks these days, so read the label and stop drinking them in the afternoon.
Unwind and unplug from technology early in the evening.....all that stuff is very stimulating, which is the opposite of what you want to fall off to sleep.
Keep the temperature lower in your bedroom. Optimal sleep occurs when the surrounding air is cool, so open a window or turn a fan on.

Also, do not have a fan directly in your face rotating with air and gusto. It can lead to coldness in the mouth which can land you with a sore throat.
Can't forget that! You can also die because of 'fan deaths'. If you don't know what it is, google it. It rarely happens though. Make sure the fan is moderated.
