Hi,


Social Networking has increased significantly over the years. As time goes on, it shows that social networking has many positives and negatives impact.

What are the types of social networking? Social networking consists of being on the internet and using the internet to interact with each other and share ideas or interests. It's a way to meet new people and explore the internet. Your largest types of social networking would have to be Facebook, MySpace, AIM, Skype, OoVoo, MSN, and Twitter. These are the more rather popular social networking devices or sites people use.


What are the positives of social networking?


  • The ability to meet new people
  • Reconnect with friends or family
  • Receive news or latest gossip
  • Ability to chat instantly
  • Share pictures
  • Data Sharing abilities

What are the negatives of social networking?


  • Identity theft
  • Time consuming
  • Misleading gossip
  • Meeting strangers
  • Cyber-Bullying

There are many positives and negatives of using social networking devices/systems/etc.

It is commonly used throughout the world.

Ultimately, YOU decide what is right. Try to monitor your activity and make sure your protected on the computer.

If you're being bullied or harassed, contact your parent/guardian or local law enforcement.

TIPS:

Limit your activity
Check your privacy settings
Report suspicious activity
Do not click miscellaneous links
Do not share what you're willing to give

One other negative to point out is that lots of people get addicted to social networking sites and stop seeing people in real life.

That's also correct. It can get people addicted which usually tends to happen in teenagers.

I agree with your positives and negatives basically. Therefore, there are things that you should be careful about. Don't give out personal info to be safe.. and you've also gotta watch out of just talking to anyone because who knows? the people who your talking to could say they're 14 years old when they could actually be in there 30's and can be a pedophile. but social networking is good in ways like you said, meeting new people and finding people you haven't seen in awhile (Facebook is definitely good for that).
