Teen Dating Tips - First Date Information Article
You are dressed and ready to meet and go on your first date. Youre feeling nervous like all teenagers and everyone naturally is. You want to make the best impression and most of all make sure you both enjoy your evening. This is a short guide for teens to a successful date.
Being on time
First things first, you need to make sure you plan ahead and be on time, you dont want to turn up late or leave anyone standing around waiting for you even if it is a nice day. Plan what transport you will use to get to the meeting location and make sure you know how long it will take for you to get there and include any possibilities which may slow down your arrival. Make sure to bring your mobile phone but set it to silent just before you meet.
The meet
When you meet your date try your best not to look too nervous or over confident. Being too nervous can give off the wrong signs and being over confident can make yourself look full of yourself.
Try and smile when you see each other, smiling will let your date know you are happy, no one wants to have a grumpy date on their plate.
Walk with your back straight, this will show confidence. Being slouched forwards could make you appear lazy and unattractive.
Dont dive right in and hug or kiss your date unless you have been on previus dates. Meeting someone and acting like this will scare them away.
Be polite when speaking, do not swear and be unmannerly. If you have any bad habits, do not perform these infront of your date.
If it is a date in a restaurant...
Pull the chair out for your date if you are a guy and take her coat if the restaurant staff does not.
If you are meeting at a restaurant for dinner, always use your knife and fork and hold them properly too using your knife to cut meat up into smaller chunks to be picked up by your fork. The way you eat creates an impression. If you eat sloppily and with your fingers you will put off your date.
Do not spill any food or drink over your date, this can cause a lot of embarrassment for both of you.
Ordering food
When ordering food do not order the whole menu, order something you like to eat and as a male, pay for the food at the end of the date. Do not order something like the hottest curry and think by eating it will impress your date, it will not.
Conversing with your date
Keep the conversation going and talk about things you think you may have in common, dont brag so much and do not talk about disgusting things or sex. If the conversation goes dry, try asking questions about your date, like where they work or what they are interested most in and give good responses with even more questions too. Dont over do the question asking and get too personal as you are still only dating. Keep eye contact with your date even if you are shy try your best.
Leaving your date
If this is your first date and you know things have both gone well and feel comfortable enough, a kiss on the cheek is nice. I dont recommend kissing your date on their lips or hugging them as this is more personal and for when you know one another more.
What if were having a picnic?
If you are having a picnic date I recommend that you both bring food that you know you will eat, dont make sloppy sandwiches that are poorly made, make your food presentable and eat it mannerly. Wrap all your exposed food with cling film to keep it fresh and make sure to bring some drinks as you may become thirsty.
If it is a hot day, wear something white or light that doesnt absorb so much sunlight, you dont want to end up sweating loads on your first date.
Sex on the first date?
Sex on the first date can lead to very short and unsuccessful relationships and unwanted pregnancies. It can lead to successful ones but I personally think that is only a minority. If you are going on a date and are hoping for sex I suggest you at least bring protection but dont go flashing it around at your date.
Only ever have sex with someone you truly feel comfortable sharing it with. You should also be above the legal age to have sex in your country or state.
I got his/her number!
If you have both shared phone numbers with each other leave phoning each other for a day or two and ring when you both are alone and away from family and friends. If you want, arrange another date but try something different to your previous date.
I hope this short article on teenage dating and first dates as a teen has helped you. There will be more in the future expanding on things Ive already mentioned and including some other things I have not mentioned here.
Thank you for reading.
