I have recently discovered that four out of ten teenagers dont sit down with their families to eat their dinners.
There will be many reasons as to why not so many do for example some teens may find they dont have enough time with homework and other complications in life so they simply cannot afford to sit down and eat with their families.
If you dont eat with your family and for whatever reason, you should consider making time for it, even if you have a busy schedule.
Eating with your family is a great time to sit down and talk to one another about any problems youre having as well as bonding too. You may avoid eating with your family because you dont want to sit and talk to them and would rather enjoy spending your time in front of the TV eating but you should try and do this.
You will find eating with your family is a good thing as you can talk without rushing around so much. If you dont eat with your family at the table, consider it, you may find it better than you perceive it.
If your family doesn't spend every second of the meal interrogating you about schoolwork/housework/homework/etc.
Then that would probably be a good thing.
But me and my family... Every time we eat at the table - it's spent talking about boring shit about my parents boring jobs - and how my dad has to do everything because he's the only one who knows how to do it (which doesn't surprise me at all).
It's also spent asking my sister about her fictitious love-life. Jeez, okay she has a new crush (or "love of her life") every 2 weeks to 3 months, we get it already! As soon as the guy changes his hair cut - suddenly he's a loser - that's it!
Then the last bit is me being interrogated about my work - or what the hell I'm gonna do when I'm older and that I should do "this or that" when I don't wanna do either! And that I'm gonna end up just like my uncle - who also had artistic talent but didn't ever use it in life.
And if I manage to finish my food before it get's cold I have to sit there with everyone else - and I don't say a word because I have nothing to say and then they insist that I join the conversation when I don't have anything to say - and then they go on about me being anti-social and that I'll never get anywhere in life if I am. And I hear it everyday already - but at least over times it doesn't ruin my meal.
Also, we talk while watching TV anyway... We have the ability to pause live TV so is someone on TV says something stupid, I get my real education for the night. That's fun, I like that part. But considering my dad can go on for hours about one thing can get tiring.
So, you know, if you don't get interrogated every waking moment of you life... Eating at the table would be so bad. If I wasn't interrogated every waking moment, I'd be more willing to eat at the table.
Nevertheless, good article.

Since ... the most ... weekends at 1 til 2 pm
In the week, my family is too busy in order to eat together. Sometimes, im alone at home also a whole week or so - if my parents work abroad and my bros return back to their universities.
I know. :l I was trying to express the point that my family does not eat together.
Well you said "Families eat together? Since when?" The families part means you were speaking for more than just your family, so that's how I took it but okay.
yeah my family eats together twice a week and then on special occasions.
some of my friends eat with their families almost every day... so quite alot of people do.
as long as its not psycho interrogation/time to bring up things you want to forget, then i think its good cause otherwise my family would never be altogether ever...
♥. Just another day like any other,
Nothing in the sky said run for cover,
There was no parade,
No lightsflashing,
No songs to sing along the way. ♥
I sit down with my family as often as I can but im normally doing my homework and coursework so ill eat in my room unless its a family dinner like on christmas.
