The Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath

Posted 25-09-09 at 11:29 AM by Marionetta

Wrath:

Quote:
What it is:
Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Why you do it:

You're wired for it. Also, the people around you are pretty damn irritating.

Your punishment in Hell will be:
You'll be dismembered alive.

Associated Animal:
Anger is linked with the Bear

Associated Color:
The color Red

Corresponding Virtue:
Patience

Corresponding Demon: Satan [en.wikipedia.org]

Quote:
Dante described vengeance as "love of justice perverted to revenge and spite". In its original form, the sin of wrath also encompassed anger pointed internally rather than externally. Thus suicide was deemed as the ultimate, albeit tragic, expression of wrath directed inwardly, a final rejection of God's gifts.

so, I'm wondering if you can reference where you got your punishments in hell. References at all? Some of the sound like Dante, but are... wrong... so... yes, references please.

Second of all, purgatory is where everyone goes after death to atone for their sins, according to the Catholics. Of course, it should be noted that there is no biblical reference for purgatory. it is the brainchild of pope

also, if you want Dante's actual opinion, instead of yours, the nine circles of hell are as follows:

first: Limbo: unbaptised children, virtuous non-believers, and believers who have fallen short of G-d's expectations. This is an alternate paradise, structured as to be pleasurable, but not perfect.

second (lust): eternal gale, you are tossed back and forth by powerful winds for an eternity, and allowed no rest

third (gluttony): forced to lie in a vile slush made by freezing rain, black snow, and hail

fourth (avarice and greed): condemned to useless labour (Pushing boulders up hills just to roll down the next)

fifth (wrath AND sloth): on the edges of the river Styx these men fight each other for eternity if they were wrathful, while the slothful lay under the water for eternity, unmoving.

sixth (heresy): entombed in flaming catacombs

seventh (violence): suicides are punished by being bound with thorns and torn at by harpies. those who were violent against others (property and body) are immersed in boiling blood (the river Phlegethon). Those who are violent against god, sodomizers, and anarchists are forever trapped in a flaming desert, and accosted by flaming snakes.

the eighth and ninth punish treason and fraud, it is an massive lake of ice, there are a lot of punishments that go on here, but the main ones involve being burned alive, or submersed in a lake of ice. Different amounts of your body are submersed based on your crimes.

The deepest part of hell is reserved for Judas Iscariot, Cassius and Brutus (murderers of Julius Caesar). They are trapped in Lucifer's three mouths, and he gnaws them to death for eternity. Lucifer is buried in ice up to his waist.

Hope this tidbit of info interests you

Dude, I already knew all that.
I just Googled the Seven Deadly Sins and this is what I found.

It's for the lawlz mostly but also it was going to be a reference for a story I was going to write.
I know about the levels of hell, I've never read Dante (but I'm so hoping for that leather-bound book for Christmas) but I know what I know.

But this was based off the Seven Cardinal Sins (or Deadly Sins).
Slightly different from what you're talking about.

The Seven Demons that represent the Sins.
And their human Masters who are named after the Seven Angels (Archangels I guess). Little is known about most of the Angels though.
Michael and Gabriel are the two main Angels is what I mean.

Also I was gonna take a suggestion and make more characters to go along with the 72 Demons of The Lesser Key of Solomon.
Which, wasn't really my idea. I heard about Gaap of the Lesser Key from Umineko, looked him (or her?) up and discovered the Lesser Key.

I can give you a list of some of the archangels. there are only a few that I know of, not seven, but if you want some biblical reference there is Uriel, Raphael and Ramiel, those are three that I can recall off the top of my head. Uriel is the angle of death though, so that's the badass comment. Quick fact, Archangel Michael is actually pronounced mick-eye-elle. All the angles end with eye-elle.

    Yeah, I know actually. lol
I said they were hard to find, I think, but I did find them.

Uriel - Good angel of Death
Samael (also said to be Satan) - Bad angel of Death

Now, in my current story. Samael, Satan, and Beelzebub are in it - but not yet.

Yeah, I heard that, but I prefer to use the pronunciations I know.

haha, fair enough. Paradise Falls is an epic poem (10,000+ lines) about Lucifer and Beelzebub's banishment from heaven and man's fall from Eden.
