I have questions and I have a rant. I shall rant first.

Rant: Facebook and myspace are giving me the shits, I mean more than I can possibly express. Myspace has everything a good site should, except for the live feed that facebook has. That is the ONLY reason people love facebook so much, and thats also the reason that no one uses myspace anymore.
Myspace has PERSONALITY, you can fully customise your page and you can write blogs and everything! Facebook has none of that. you cant even decide what sections you want on your page, it just chooses for you.
I love writing blogs, I like telling people about myself and showing my own personal style on my OWN profile page, and I love having fully arrangeable photo albums that contain every single one of my good memories.
But no one is ever going to see those things on my myspace, because no one uses it anymore. And they dont use it because, as I mentioned, facebook is better. At least when it comes to instant messaging and updates. Facebook also has fan groups.. almost forgot that part...

Questions: What kind of effort is involved in making a site like myspace or facebook? What would the costs be, what would you have to know, etc?
I am honestly curious, because if there is even the smallest chance that someone might use it and enjoy it, then I would probably go to extreme lengths to top them both!

I deleted my myspace because it just got too boring. No one is on it anymore, and everyone has flocked to facebook, therefore I don't use facebook because it is too crowded and open. People who I don't even know add me because they saw me there and thought i looked nice (WTF!) and people are constantly wanting me to join their shit group and always asking me questions in the apps and stuff. Both anoy the crap out of me, thats why im here. <3

Yeah myspace is boring, no one was on it, so i use facebook, but whilst i was totally obsessed at the start i don use it so much anymore, thankfully. It took up half my life lol
but i like myspace music so i can see all the artists!

And i have no idea what its like to make a site like this, its probably really expensive and you should probably need to know lots of IT.

Very true. But MySpace did start to rule my life at some stage. I became obsessed with having the best layout, and page, and about me. It was driving me nuts. Then everyone flocked to Facebook, so i stopped and then I got onto facebook and then i got addicted to that... 9 hours a day sometimes. Thank God I no longer have either Im quite happy with Teen Forumz and Skype.

Lol I actually want something thats addictive, a cross between both.. Sighh. Theyre both driving me nuts

I think Facebook, with the myspace personalisation features. But Minus the groups because the shit me up the wall.

Well, I would at least put the groups in like a totally different section so that anyone who WANTS groups can go lookie, but anyone who doesnt doesnt have to put up with it.

Lol and maybeh forums, but that sounds like an unnecessary pain in the butt
