I'm pretty sure the UK has laws against piracy, but I don't know the specifics. But I buy most my music (unless I want it right away, in which case I'll download it and delete it when it comes) but I'll occasionally download PC games (but not often) or tv series/films (but I mostly rent). I do download 99% of my DS games though, unless it's one I really like in which case I'll pay for it and support the publisher. I do feel kind of guilty about it though, it is technically stealing.
One thing that is ridiculous though is that it's still illegal (I think) to rip CDs for personal use. All the songs on my iPod are ripped from CDs, and I could technically be sent to jail for it even though CDs are usually more expensive that downloading from iTunes. And why do iTunes and Windows Media Player have rip functions that are so easy to use anyway?
