hey, can anyone explain Twitter to me? Like a couple of my friends have one and I want one. What do you do on it?

Twitter is called a 'micro-blogging' site. The idea is that you post updates (called tweets) about anything you like. It can be what you're doing doing the day (similar to Facebook statuses) but you are limited to your tweet being only 140 characters long. Rather than having 'friends', you have 'Followers' which are similar but when you follow someone, they do not automatically follow you. It's up to them to then follow you afterwards. This is why many celebrities use Twitter because all of their fans can follow them without being bombarded with updates from millions of people. When you follow someone, their tweets appear on your homepage (similar to the News Feed on sites like Facebook) and so you can what they have to say. Any followers that you have will see your tweets.
