Default APB: All Points Bulletin

Has anyone bought this and played it or even played the beta of it? I was reading about it being free to play online a week or two ago and now its meant to cost £8 for unlimited play for a month as a subscription. I have read a couple of reviews on it and not many are meant to be liking it as they were hoping for something comparable to Grand Theft Auto.

For those who havent heard of it heres its wiki link:

All Points Bulletin

and the official homepage (currently down):

www.apb.com

I must admit looking at gameplay trailers and images of gameplay the graphics of APB do look really good.

I just dont fancy wasting £25 on it from GAME, you do get 50 hours of free play time with the game but still if its crap, I dont want to have wasted my money.

Does anyone like the look of it, played it at all?

What do you think about it?

Right well I spent almost all day yesterday waiting for APB (I still dont know what all points bulletin is meant to mean) to download and install, that was kinda expected though annoying as it was.

The graphics I think could be improved a bit but for an online game they are great. When creating a character the system is excellent, I havent seen such a good character customiser before and when buying clothing you can also customise them very well too. You can also customise cars with vinyls etc but I have yet to try that out.

To begin with you do a ten minutes tutorial and then you start accepting missions from contacts which then allows you to automatically group up with others. Being new to online games in general I found myself following others playing in my group and imitating what they were doing, getting in a car of a fellow player and protecting the car is so much fun. I played for about 4 hours and I am still unsure if I am doing things right.

The missions are a bit repetitive from what I have seen so far but its the same with games like WOW etc you are assigned to go and burn things, break in somewhere (the break ins I have seen are really crap mind you, its more like forcing a window open and picking up an item), you need to guard vehicles and also spray up places before the opposition comes and kills you.

I think I must have died about 300 times last night, some guy killed me about twenty times in a row.

When I wanted to buy some clothes I asked someone where to buy them and they showed me so players seem to be quite helpful (not sure if thats common on MMO's).

I think it would be even more fun to play in groups of people you know on it.

I would definitely say it was worth the £20 on it and I do plan on paying for some more game time when my 50 hours runs out, probably take a while for me to use it all up

I must add that it isnt like GTA IV at all, not the single player game, if you like the online play of GTA IV then I think you may like this

Sounds awesome, Michael. I plan on getting APB because practically everyone in my CSS clan talks about it at least once a day. They all say it's good, I plan on purchasing it soon.

Make sure you read others reviews of the game first though, I am hardly much of a gamer these days especially not much of an online gamer, my review is one of a newcomer to MMO's Alot of the reviews I read before buying were quite negative, people saying its not got any depth and the how repetitive it is. When playing I do think its quite repetitive but from the MMO's I have played so far that seems to be pretty much the way they are, MW2 for example, all you can really do is shoot people in teams over and over, and I think capture the flag, there isnt really much to them in terms of depth really.

A lot of people are saying the game will go to crap as soon as peoples 50 hours expires, to be honest I am not 100% sure whether or not I will pay for more once mine has ran out, I have only used up about 5 or 6 hours so far on it. Im still pretty much clueless if I am playing it correctly, I do find it fun all the same. Its probably really boring for those who plan on playing it all day.

I have read reviews and my buddies who are hard core gamers do enjoy it If I do get it I do not plan on playing it all day. I don't have time for that :p

Servers have been shut down due to the developers going into Administration and being unable to find a buyer.

The game's lasted 79 days. Not many people are happy.

What a shame, does that mean I am entitled to a refund seeing as its purely an online game?
