Default Graphics Cards

Okay I've been looking for a GPU for my computer and I have some questions...

Is it okay to have a Intel processor and have a Ati card? Because ATI is owned by AMD you get were I'm going at this?

Did anyone have to upgrade there power supply or fans to accommodate the requirements of the GPU?

I have a power supply its total wattage is 280W and most cards need 300+W

The card I'm looking for has to have a memory of 1 GB and has to be within a price range of $50-$100...Can y'all help me out?

Most cards on the market right now, decent ones at least need around 600w+, a 700w-1000w psu is what you should be getting if youre getting a new mid range card.

It doesnt make a difference, you should mainly be concerned whether your motherboard supports AGP or PCI-Express, if it supports both then go for PCI-Express.

Ive recently upgraded mine from a 400w PSU with no graphics card to a 700w CIT PSU and the HD5770, I could do with a few couple of quid fans as the case is a little hot because theres nothing pushing the hot air out.

Looking at your budget I would go for either an 8800GTS or the 8800GTX, please let us know if your board supports PCI-E. If youre not sure, search the mainboard model on Google and that should bring up its specs. You will be quite lucky to get a decent card with 1gb RAM for that price at least in my opinion. What resolution will you be playing the games at? You could always get one with less memory for a smaller resolution.

Id go for one with 768mb of RAM then, if youre not planning on upgrading your monitor anytime soon or playing games at higher resolutions.

Thats the main reason I got the 5770, it has the extra RAM needed for higher res monitors like my own. If I had a smaller monitor/res I would have got something a little cheap myself.
