Default Unwanted programs

I've probably got a bunch of programs on my harddrive I don't use anymore, and I wish to get rid of them. Unfortunately, not all my programs appear in the "Add/Remove Programs" section of the control panel, so I can't delete some programs from there.

Is there a program you can download & install which identifies unused programs and delete them?

I could also do with a program that cleans unused registry files.

Does this work?

1) Go to Start -> Run, then type regedit and press enter
2) Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentversion\Uninstall, then expand the Uninstall list.
3) Look for the program which you want to uninstall, then click on it
4) On the right panel, double click on UninstallString and you will see the Edit String window pop up. Copy the value data.
5) Go to Start -> Run, type cmd to bring up command prompt.
6) Paste the UninstallString copied at step 4) and press enter to execute it. The uninstall screen will pop up to start the un-installation process.

I don't need to warn you about the dangers of editing registry items so go careful.

THIS is the Registry Cleaner I've used in the past and it seems to work well.

I just downloaded that register clearner. It found 500+ errors in about 5 seconds. I assume it detects old, un-used entries?

Thanks.

EDIT:

It said it repaired all these errors. Does that mean there wasn't any to remove?

Well my PC hasn't crashed yet so I guess the cleaner did no harm.

You should check out tune up utilities, they have a built in reg cleaner, many system tweaks done automatically that are optional and also a program manager that will delete the ones that are stuck there

I use it all the time, im not keen on its turbo optimiser but other than that its pretty much spot on. I also use it for checking what files are the largest on my hard drives when theyre getting full.

Me and my Dad are quite impressed with it.

If you buy the full version can you use it on multiple computers?

I honestly dont know the legality of that but yes you can re-use the serial for it on other computers and also update etc If its only two computers and theyre both on the same IP I doubt that it would get blocked or anything
