There was a point when I owned both consoles, and both were in frequent use on the same T.V.

I only ever used the 360 for online gaming because the servers are noticeably more stable, available for all games, and there was a myriad of exclusive downloadable content that the PS3 didn't have.
Generally, I find that the 360's online community is much more competitive and, er .... well, 'hardcore'. You're playing with people that are willing to pay for their online so I'd assume that's the difference. That's the obvious upside of the PS3's online abilities - that you don't have to pay.

Having played both consoles, I think it's safe for me to say that Xbox360's online service is by far the best out of the two.

PS3's service is pretty weak if you compare it, and the new Playstation Plus subscription is a big flop. The only upside to the PS3 I can identify is that it's online is free. Downloadable games etc are too over-priced, the features they come out with are poor in quality, and every new "idea" they have is always a fail (see: Playstation Plus, Playstation HOME).

Xbox360 has a lot more features (Cross-game chat), is more stable, and it's just generally the better console when it comes to online play.

Also having both consoles, safe to say I also prefered the 360.

Even though you pay for it, it's actually pretty cheap, £4.99 a month, it's not that bad considering what you're getting. Stable on-line servers, access to a marketplace full of free or cheap DLC, as well as video streaming e.c.t

I know the PS3 also has it's store but the 360 marketplace just seems easier to navigate; personally that is. also the PS3's online ability just sucks in comparrison, I don't think I ever found a server while on PSN that was stable enough that actually kept most of the players in at once, maybe that was just me though.

Overall the 360 just has a better experience due to the afformentioned reasons and the ability to find a game almost instantly, barring a few exceptions for certain titles.

Agreed, all it is, is just a con for you to pay extra money to get DLC early and for some other weak bonus' that noone really wants or cares about. SONY trying to money grub it seems.

Only morons would actually pay for Playstation plus to begin with, SONY have jumped on the stupidity wagon.
