Finding useful, fully working, scam free, free for life programs can be rather hard, can't it? Well, here's where my idea came into play... in this post there are many, many free programs that can be used to play videos, convert files, edit photos, play music and a hell of a lot more!
Please note that ALL of these programs are completely and utterly
free of charge. There are no hidden payments anywhere and will be completely free for life, unless they bring out a different version which you have to pay for.
Photo Editing Programs
GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program
GIMP is by far one of the most used free photo editing programs out there. It will do almost everything Photoshop will, and is the equivilant of a free Photoshop.

Paint.NET
This program is a very scaled down version of GIMP but is a lot less complicated. If you just plan to use it for simple edits or just prefer simple programs, this one is for you.

I personally believe these are the two best out there online. If you, however, completely disagree with me feel free to post in this thread and tell me why!
Music Players
Winamp
This media player is rather impressive. It has many ad-ons, plenty of customisation options and above all plays music! The program not only links up with iPods but also links up with most USB devices easily. Like most of the other media players, it doesn't just play music - it also has the ability to play videos.

iTunes
One of the most used music players is iTunes, this is one I myself use. This media player is obviously built to connect up to iPods easily, you can download music and videos of the iTunes' store and much, much more.

Being the most popular and most used, I'll just leave it at that for now. I know for a fact, however, that many of my friends and family still use Windows Media Player to play their music etc. Granted, it isn't too bad it's just that these two have a heck of a lot more going for them, being easy to navigate and it remembers your music library for easy playback.
Video Players
DivX
Having the ability to play HD videos, connect up to PS3s and many other pieces of hardware, and also being able to burn videos to CD that is, unfortunately, only able to play on DivX certified machines. Another upside to DivX is that it can play almost any video format, namely .mkv as this is the most widely used on the internet at this moment in time. When downloading videos off torrent sites, it is advised you use DivX as it has most of the plugins needed to play these exotic video files.

Picture Viewing
CDisplay
This awesome program is great if you download a lot of manga, comics or any of the sort. It automatically puts your pages in order and has high quality. You can also read your comics from the .RAR or .zip file you downloaded it as, so there is no need to extract.

For any other picture viewing, Window's built in photo viewer seems to do the job better than any other. This eliminates having to download further software clogging up your computer more.
File Extraction
Free RAR Extract Frog
This opens and extracts files compressed into a .rar file. This is very slim and extremely simple, nothing fancy just extracts your files like you want it to. You would only really need this if you downloaded lots of .rar files or will do in the near future.

Internet Browsers
Firefox
Possibly one of my favourite browsers ever made. Taking up a lot of room does have it's upsides, however, offering more ease of use and plenty of ad-ons. The slowest of the two I plan to mention but in my opinion the better of the two. This extremely safe browsing tool is definitely something you should use.

Google Chrome
My close second on my favourite browsers. Quick, slim, very, very easy to use and still plent of customisation available to play with. You may have to see for yourself which you prefer, this or Firefox, so here's the download link!

With AndreaMosaic you can create your own photographic mosaics made with your own pictures. A photo mosaic is an image composed of many tiled photos.

Please remember this was quickly thrown together using my own personal preferences. Most of these were programs I found difficult to find and had to do a hell of a lot of research to find a half decent one for the job, so hopefully this will make a few people's lives a little easier.
If you have any personal recommendations, please feel free to post them! Any and all feedback is also welcome~
