Default Anyone own a website /server?

If so what is it about/what does it do?

I'll start:
zimbu was one of my first ever websites which I recently re-designed to something a lot more simple and which I think looks much nicer (: (was going to be a video sharing site but firefox couldn't load the videos :( )
my portfolio - nothing amazing really

I also run two servers (VPS's):
One in the UK (Called Master) running my sites
One in the USA (called Slave1) running as a Squid Cache proxy, backup and I'm also running a Teamspeak 3 server on it as well as making it a backup server (:
Looking to soon get a cheap VPS in the Netherlands/Sweden to run as a torrent download box (: (wouldn't mind making my own program for that, but need to learn c++ or Pearl first lol)

Am I the only person to be interested in servers/websites? (please say no lol)

I used to run a forums for a game server, but the people in charge of getting the game up quit lol. Dunno what's going to happen now, after making it all for it. :/

Best way to learn is to jump in and try some things out , don't have to have fancy programs , notepad and a browser will get you started.

Take it a stage at a time and set yourself simple and realistic goals , no point in trying to build a huge cms if you've never written a line of code in your life. Once you have completed one goal give yourself a pat on the back and move on to the next stage.

i.e to get something like this :

Quote:

Sample Title
Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...
Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...
Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...

You would need to write:

<h1>Sample Title</h1>
<p>Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...
Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...
Sample text here...Sample text here...Sample text here...</p>

<h1> are changing able depending on the importance of the paragraph title. i.e <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> etc..

Though I don't pay for it, I run a graphics forum (gimper.net).
I'd love to have a site completely of my own but I don't have the money. =/

At one point in time I had a forum based site (it was vBulletin even) for a game... Financial situations forced my hand in closing it though.

I've had several other sites open as well. I at one point had a site up for personal projects and to work out new designs and what not.

Web design/development is intriguing really..

As for servers - I don't personally own or run any servers. However, an organization I work for, for 4 months out of the year ever year... runs about twelve servers and are looking into adding more with virtual servers... While servers aren't exactly my cup of tea- they are extremely fascinating in how they work and such.

w3schools is an amazing resource, btw.
