My computer has been without sound on the internet and JUST on the internet for 3 months! I can get sound on iTunes, CD's DVDs and everything but the internet! I've made sure all the sound bars and stuff are on and up but it's still not working? I am anything but good at working computers so any help would be greatly appreciated
That happened to me a lot once. I never did find the reason. It just all of a sudden started working by itself again.
Either that or my Uncle fixed it when he was working on the computer.
I'll dig around, see what I can find.
Not sure if this is just video or audio but maybe you have to update your flash player. Worth a shot.

Alright I'm a computer wizard!
So there could be many problems with why this could be happening.
1. It could be the browser you're using. (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.)
2. You might have a sound driver missing that you need to replace.
3. You could have a bug in your computer you might have to find and get rid of.
4. You might have a virus that infected your internet browser making the sound not work.
My suggestion to you is do a virus scan, and clean out all the virus'. If that doesn't work download a free malware anti-virus program called "Malware Bytes", you can download it off the official website or CNet. If that doesn't work do a disk clean-up and disk defragment by clicking start > programs > accessories > system tools. If that doesn't work please message me because I have some more ideas for you.
Mistakes are made, and regrets are our luggage; we will drag them with us to slow us down.
The victories are flashes of light, sudden and unlasting, which allow us to glimpse the road ahead before darkness descends.
Love is bitter, yet it is the bread that keeps us. Over and over it fills us up, only to starve us.
The people whom we love shape our destinies and our strengths, yet leave us cold and alone in the darkness.
eurgh, this happened to me once and I found the source of the problem in the sound settings somewhere ;o I can't remember where though.. Erm, there was a bar or a tickbox or something that turned the sound on/off soley for the internet/browser. Just have a poke around in settings/control panel. You'll do it eventually. (:
First check is to assure you have the latest drivers (or your current ones are working without an issue). If your sound is on-board (the audio port is directly below USB and the LAN ports - Deaktop (Laptop are onboard anyway)) then go to the manufacturer's website and search for your system to get any and all drivers there.
If you do attempt to update the drivers and nothing has changed there might be a setting in place preventing this? Best check is to try 2 driver browsers, Internet Explorer (since it's already installed) is a good one to test, and what ever other browser you have. If both browsers do not produce any sound for you, then it's clear it's not a standard browser setting causing the issue.
You can always go to your sound settings (Control Panel > Hardware And Sound > Sound > Properties (Default speakers (which should be set to obviously your speakers))
Make sure everything is set to default (Nice helpful "Restore Defaults" button and most pages).
If the issue persists then keep us posted so we can continue aid.
Oh and here's a bonus tip, boot the system in Safe Mode (Turn the system on and instantly keep pressing the F8 key until you are presented with a menu (seeing the Windows Logo loading means you missed it) chose "Safe Mode with Networking") try your internet browser and sound in there, if sound DOES work then it means something is loading and being naughty when you load your system normally; if you do this bonus test and sounds DOES work in Safe Mode say so.

Hope you found this helpful!
I'm sorry I have to do this but Disk Cleanup and Defrag have less chance of fixing an issue like this in my opinion.
I agree there may be a driver issue, browser not so much (especially if you've tested multiple browser and it's still got the problem).

Yeah true, but I only told him to do that so the virus scan would go a little faster! >.<
Okay, I've tried what I can understand from your tech-y talk and it's still not working I've made sure everything is ok in Sound and is nicely defaulted, I've done virus scans and tried using FireFox instead of Internet Explorer, I think I've tried a disk clean up and I've started my laptop in Safe mode. Still not working though!
