@awfulcopter:
Why use third-party programs to extract an ISO? Herp.
Besides, some games work without a no-CD patch if the ISO is mounted as it will think you have an actual CD in the drive. Not to mention that it takes wayyy more time to extract a 5 GB ISO than it takes to mount it and then install it.

Everyone uses 7zip or WinRAR. As long as you have those installed (and everyone does) you won't need Daemon Tools or any other ISO mounter. I've never used them because they aren't necessary. Might just be me, but I hate having a ton of unnecessary shit installed on my computer, so I try to get the most use out of what I do install.

I see extraction speeds of about ~100 MB/s with 7zip. 100 / 5120 MB = 51.2 seconds total extraction time.

Whatever though. To each their own.

Let's take your example of 51.2 seconds.
Now, the average load time of empirical tests I ran with Daemon Tools show a 1-3 second load time with a 4.7 GB ISO. Worst case scenario included: 51.2 - 3 = 48.2
You save a whopping 48.2 seconds!

Now, if we're talking hard drive space...
Daemon Tools doesn't use more space when mounting than it takes to create a symbolical link between the X: drive (where X is A-Z) and the ISO, and the size of DT installed is ~12 MB.
With extraction, you need (x * 2 + y) amount of space where x = the size of the ISO and y = creating hierarchical directory structures and storing the information on each file.

We has a winrar. (no pun intended)

Hurr durr, it was sarcasm, "Holmes."
Good job at ignoring the rest of my lengthy argument.

Relax dude, I was just trying to have some fun. We're all homies here Holmes.

I bow to your knowledge on the subject at hand which indubitably surpasses that of my own.
