If you're using a wireless connection, the chances are this is the issue. Since there are many factors to consider that could cause a wireless connection issue. I bet if you hooked it up via an ethernet connection, all your problems will disappear.

And to the comment about Firefox being unstable, it's not. It was just your copy.
