It's like the U.S government is trying to take over the world, isn't it?

January 24, related PROTECT IP Act to be voted on in Senate
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid plans to bring the Senate's version of the legislation (the Protect IP Act (PIPA)) to a vote on January 24. Reid rejected a request by six Senators for a postponement, saying "this is an issue that is too important to delay."
If PIPA hasn't been passed, that means the vote hasn't been signed by the house, which means it isn't a law YET. Also, the president needs to approve it, and Obama said he would veto the bill.

SOOOO This isn't SOPA related.

Nice try, though.

Apparently Anonymous has struck back to this. You can read the page about it on CNET. I'd link it but im on my phone so yeah.

This is why I want to move to Sweden and live in the mountains. I hate this country. The American govt. is worthless in my opinion. I'll build myself a cabin, become a blacksmith, and kill bears to eat. Possibly catch some salmon, or whatever the hell type of fish are in mountain streams. That's the life.

This thread epitomizes the public attitude towards the government in the post Vietnam era. I find it funny that in a number of years that public confidence in the government can go from such a high percentage to such a low percentage. I mean the swing from 70% to 13% in a number of years is unheard of. Yet, I would theorize that a lot of the opposition to this bill in the public has it's roots in the negative view of government and high levels of cynicism that people are born and bred with. Not to say that is the only thing causing criticism, but it definitely is a big part of it. The USA is a far cry from the days in which the president can get a ton of young people interested in politics and get involved in it (JFK, of course). Honestly, I think a bit of it is unfair (and a bit of the previous optimism as well). Overall, it doesn't bode well for the future state of the country.

This is absurd in all honesty. The bills won't make it past Congress - and if it does, I sincerely doubt the President will sign them... especially in an election year. He'd be signing away the presidency - and no politician does that when they're still eligible for another term.

MU is unfortunate - but I'm sure they'll be back up in time. This whole thing wreaks. And I am in agreement with Marionetta's sentiments.

"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love."
