Default Tips for making a cheap web design?

Hello! I want to start my first blog during next month and I'm searching for possible free web building tools for making it. What can you recommend me from your experience, especially in case of design? My blog will be about music if that's important.
Thanks!

try wordpress, weebly, wix in that order wix, isnt so good imo they dont give you a real subdomain and their ad is over your site but some people like teh design :o

dont expect a real flexible design with free stuffs unless you personally design it, tho

Of course that's important.

A blog that's all about literature has very different design requirements from a blog that deals with music.

The design of your blog should also be geared to the genres you'll blog about.
Visitors of your blog should be able to quickly grasp what your block is about.

Therefore, the design in its visual appearance should never distract from the information, so that it may become invisible.

It's also important how advertising is placed, or how quickly your page is loaded in the user's browser.

Too much graphics and other multimedia content on the main page of your blog will delay loading time in the browser and could leave a bad impression.

According to this you should consider using webp for graphic contents. this graphic format needs less disk space and loads therefore pictures very fast.

Same goes for webm, as a video format, or ogg or mp3 for audio.

You should also think about the legal side of the contents of your blog and always make sure that you can use eg ... CD covers legally on your site.

*enunciates in web developer*

Hello, web developer by profession here.

If you want to have the cheapest possible website, you're best off hosting it yourself. Let's talk about free/cheap/expensive, and why/when you would ever choose each of the options.

Free:
Free is free, so that's a nice positive right there... But that's generally where the pros end.
When you have a free website, it is generally not on a domain you would want, e.g. mycoolsite.wordpress.com / mycoolsite.wix.com /etc. The .wordpress/.wix shows the world that you are hosting your site for free, and also can negatively affect Search Engine Optimization*.
Also, when using a site like wordpress.com/wix.com to host your site, you are quite limited with what you can/cannot do - for example, limited to a few themes/cannot edit templates beyond the very basics.

When would you use this sort of site? School projects, and similar types of things, would be the only real time you should use these.

Cheap:
By cheap, I am talking an average cost of $5 a month or less here. All the pros and cons will be dependent on what choices you make, obviously.
Pros:
* Your own domain name. mycoolsite.com looks a lot nicer, and you can have it, with an average domain cost being ~$15 a year, depending on length/if it's not already in use/etc.
* It's cheap. Not as good as free, but for the cost of a Big Mac a month, hosting your site on a cheap web server will give you a lot of control (not as much as the expensive option) but more than enough for what you would need.
* Lots more control. Being able to access databases, FTP, create your own email address, etc. all of this will be possible, as well as having a lot more access to themes/plugins.

Cons:
* If you want to get into web development; doing some crazy coding stuff, your server host may not allow you to do everything
* You will have to manage updates, etc. for any software (e.g. Wordpress) you install - as outdated versions may have security holes

When would this be the best choice? Most non-business websites will want this option. Blogs, forums, etc.
To start out with, I would recommend something which offers at least 50GB storage, more if you're thinking of uploading all your music to it, and as you probably have no server experience, you will want something which offers cPanel/Plesk with their web hosting packages. As an example, this is the company I used when I first started out https://websound.co.uk/webhosting They aren't the cheapest, but their "large" package is what you want to be looking out for.

Web hosts which offer cPanel, will also usually have a way to install Wordpress, a very easy to use blogging tool, through cPanel - meaning you don't need to worry about setting up databases, etc.

Expensive:
Pros:
* full control

Cons:
* expensive
* if something goes wrong, you're either paying to fix it, or doing it yourself

Who is this for? Big businesses.

You can spend $100's a month for web servers, but you wouldn't want this option, unless your website becomes huge, and you make a lot of money off of subscriptions/ad revenue.

* Search Engine Optimization: Search Engine Optimization. This is how people optimize a website so that it will rank higher when keywords are searched for on Google. E.g. if you search "cats" on Google, Wikipedia may be the first website, because it has a high Search Engine Optimization score.

Obviously, if you want people to find your blog on Google, you will need to understand this to some extent.

As a web developer/designer, and with some experience in digital marketing/Search Engine Optimization, I'm always available if you have any questions about anything like this.

Thanks!
There are many sites which have special functions for making blogs on their platforms like Tumbler, of course they really many limits for functions and design but it's the easiest way for making a blog for total newbies But for more functions and creativity it's better to use special separate web building platforms like WordPress, Weebly, Blogger and so on, here's a nice list with many of them https://www.creativebloq.com/web-des...orms-121413634 for example. Many of them are free for using and have very simple interface for newbies too so making a website and design for it isn't complicated in this case at all. But I agree with previous response free platforms are often really limited in case of many functions so maybe it's better to choose a non-free upgraded version, as I know many of them are really cheap, like Weebly which costs $12 per month.
Also my friend who's a professional web builder recommends for such types of websites as yours using web templates, they provide you ready site skeletons which are easy for installing and further modifying and there are very many types of them for different platforms, including music wordpress themes for https://www.templatemonster.com/cate...dpress-themes/example. Some of them are free and save time greatly too.
Hope that was helpful!

Depending on what you want on the site, depends on what sort of theme you'll want.

If you go with Wordpress, there's a whole load of free themes out there which will suit most needs. But obviously, they may be lacking features paid themes have, or may look very generic

I vote for wordpress also. That's a very nice tool but at first glance, it looks difficult so, it usually takes more time to understand how it works

I use the hPage Website Builder because it has everything. I registered my domain there, got my custom email, 300 awesome design templates, website statistics, secure SSL encryption, mobile responsive designs, photo galleries, guestbook for visitors’ messages, appointment calendar for important dates, contact forms, link list, etc.

They also have good Search Engine Optimization optimization. You can try their free website first before upgrading to a paid package if you like.
