I have compaq /HP bad choice for a laptop by the way, anyways. My friend decided to use my laptop when the charger was sparking and it shut off. I thought it was the laptop charger but I just bought a new charger and it's still not working any ideas of what could be the problem.

Yeah like Fireworks sparking, It also was smoking. It wont turn on even with the new charger.

Oooh. That's a bummer.. You might have blown the receiver thing inside the laptop.
You'll need to take it to local computer place. It shouldn't take long to fix. and wont be too expensive

Sounds like your old charger may have blown your laptops PSU

Well I just called the Geek Squad agents at Best Buy and they said it could be the charger it's self and Not the computer. Hopefully it's not the computer. If it's the computer it's only 85 dollars to send it out and takes 2-4 weeks. =X
