NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY I CAN'T WRITE A STUPID POEM. I AM AWESOME AT WRITING STORIES BUT WHEN IT COMES TO POEMS, MY MIND GOES BLANK!!! I AM SUPPOSED TO WRITE ONE BY THE END OF THIS WEEK AND I AM JUST SO FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I CANT EVEN MAKE ONE LINE! DOES ANYONE HAVE ADVICE ON HOW TO EVEN START A POEM??

Some times i have to write poems for school i normally just do some half ass thing to em off my back

Some ways to start.

1. Look for inspiration in every day life. Life is beautiful is you look close enough.
2. READ OTHER POEMS! Inspiration hits from anywhere
3. Don't wait until later to write what you think. If you have an idea, write it IMMEDIATELY
4. Think positively, everyone has that voice that says "You can't do this, you're going to mess up." When we mess up then, we beat ourselves more because we confirm our own misplaced stupidity.
5. Don't worry if you're not good at first, do you think that the most critically acclaimed poets wrote their masterpieces on their first try? not even the best can do it.
6. Creativity strikes in odd places. if you aim to sit down and write, be comfortable and in a place where you can think freely.
7. Plan out on your poem on paper, keeping it in your head gets lots in time. A paper is always in your notebook to be looked at if you have to keep it for later.

Sit down and just right some thoughts about something that touches any of your emotions right now. Something that made you mad, sad, happy, sexy. Whatever..

Then pick a poem style (looking at others is a good idea)... and rewrite the thoughts as a story in poem form.

I suggest this because I've always enjoyed writing, but could never sit down and write a poem on command. One day about a month ago, I was sitting at home feeling sorry for myself over a girl. And I wrote 4 or 5 verse poem.

Best I've written in years.

Try poem mixing. Its like you take the theme of a song and make it a poem. Ive done it a couple times When i get writers block. Also if you have a crush or a boyfriend you can kinda revolve it around him.

Try writing a rap kinda thing. Have fun, think about stupid stuff in your head. Go from there.
