Well, if you really really really wanted to save the environment you would, the ones who really care do you know. No, really, I mean it.
I do care, But i've never been an extremist. But I do a lot for the environement that is for sure.
I buy my clothe at the Thrift store, I recycle, I compost, I take shower, I almost have no carbage, I reused stuff,

The real effect is that it helps more of them to survive.
Yeah great. No really, they would survive anyway. The pollution it actually makes kill more of them than the number it save. (If it even really save some of them, what I don'T belive) They are use to live there, it's their evironement.

Water and Wind? Doesn't matter, something still had to be built and is disrupting the animal life there.
Do you know how many birds piss on those windmills?
Yeah it does, but less than nuclear and way less polluant.
Quote:
The thing is, it was never deemed cost effective and you may think "money doesn't matter so long as the environment is safe" but in reality it does matter because in the end they have to cut down more trees to make more money because wind and water power cost too much.
Mmm... we all live on water power here and it doesn't coast too much. Actually, it is less expensive than nuclear and it is one of the reason Canada wants to keep Quebec with them. Because we have the water power they don't have.
Cost nothing, not really polluant, and give lost of work.

So, yeah, oil is safer and more cost effective plus nuclear energy is much safer (way less chance of something going wrong) more affordable, and much cleaner.
mush cleaner?

Also wind and water have faults. If the wind doesn't blow, you get nothing.
It the water doesn't flow, you get nothing.
Same with solar, if the sun doesn't shine, you get nothing.
Also those take on a lot of cost in repairs. They break down more than one might think.
Well, you need to have the resource of crouse.
If you have no water it wont works, if you have no wind it wont work... nobody is stupid at that point.

So, yeah, all around, oil really is safer and cheaper. Plus gives way more jobs because it takes many people to operate and oil rig (seeing as how my uncle works on one - he's told me about it).
Safer? mmm... I wonder. Not it is not safer than water and wind,
Ok, wind power doesn't get more jod, but the water does.
And we can make job other places, this is not the only place job are make.
PS: I'm not stupid either hey, I know nuclar energy will never disappear because we make lots of money with it and it cost less to actually make it. But I know it's only a matter of money, nothing else. and I mean it. NOTHING ELSE. Cause if we really cared, and would'nt all be blind by money, it could change.
2 angels, taken away to soon
Will be in my heart forever ? R.I.P.
It seems to me as if your arguement is based on the preface that money is the problem. If we could rely more on the wind, more on the solar, etc, don't you think we would?
The problem with all of those are they are not consistent. With oil resources and nuclear power we have a steady flow of energy to run our cities, to run our cars, etc, etc.
I support the environment and all, but I'm sorry, I don't see the harm in tapping into resources, if there is minimal affect to the surrounding environment. I'm sorry, but I don't see the harm in a country trying to lessen its dependence upon other countries.
Don't get me wrong, we should be striving for other means. And we are, we have ethanol gas now, that is not all gasoline, but corn as well. We have, the solar, the wind, the damns that bring in energy. There is alot of ingenuity out there, and one day the solution will be found.
And lets be real, in a capitalist world, the fool to find the solution that works, will be rewarded greatly with wealth. As he or she should be.
By the way, the pictures you posted are of an industrial country verses that of a third world country. The reason those countries look like that, is not the fault of nuclear plants or energy plants. It is more or less the troubles those countries face economically, with their people etc.
We get rid of our garbage by taking it to the curb in a trash can, the garbage man comes and takes it away. It leaves our mind at that point. The trash travels to either landfills, or burning plants, and even recycling agencies.
In third world countries, they throw the trash on the street corners, on river corners, etc. They've no place to put the trash. They burn it on the street corners, which causes the pollution they suffer in the air.
They bathe/drink from the same water they expel feces into.
Do not assume, Alex, to compare those pictures without a fair explanation. They both hold stories, and they both have complications, but they do not support your claims when put together.... On second thought, I suppose they could, if put together properly.
And we are, we have ethanol gas now, that is not all gasoline, but corn as well.
This, however, makes corn harder to buy because it raises the price.
Also it doesn't work as well as gas - you need to refill more often that is.

^ There are different types of corn. The corn humans eat (sweet corn) or field corn. Field corn is used for animal feed, etc. And also used now for ethanol.... unless you eat field corn, the prices shouldn't really affect you as an individual in that respect.
While I'm not sure of the mileage affects, cause I never pay attention. I know that to choose the ethanol at the gas pump is way cheaper than the other.
Yeah but now they gotta take up more room for the field corn because they gotta make fuel and feed.
Also, it's combined with the fact that the water was shut off in one of the largest farming areas that more or less feeds the world.
Which is totally ironic considering they shut it off to save an extremely small fish.
Which is stupid, save the fish, lower the food supply. Yeah, that's smart.
