First of all, home schooled kids can socialize because there are certain groups they can go to with other home schooled kids.
And really, some kids like being alone.
I found it works a lot better and you can learn at your own pace.
I don't have a tutor or a parent helping me either. I more or less teach myself, all the booklets have what I need to know in them.
As a bonus, I don't have to wake up at 5:30 AM to catch a 6:40 AM bus to get to school by 7:20 AM.
Homeschooling also gives me flexibility for I need to get a job - I can work during normal school hours.
All in all, I absolutely
love home schooling! It's so much better than public school, plus all the booklets are correct in their teachings so I don't have to lie on my work anymore which makes passing 10 times easier.

i think that should only be allowed in case of serious sickness or something like that

That's a little silly. What if the child in question
wants to be home schooled, I mean I know kids - including myself - who've always hated school. And have been begging for homeschooling since kindergarden.
Point is, if a kid wants to be home schooled, they have a right to be.

I think it is also healthy to see and hear new things each day. Plus it has to get boring at home all day everyday!

Only when you run out of a variety of things to eat... although the upside is that I actually have the option of eating more than just pizza crust.
Lawl, most of you act like home schooled kids don't know how to communicate with the outside world.
Look, some kids do better in a one-on-one environment. Even when I was going to school, I had to be put in a different room to take tests because I just could not focus with people crowding me all the time. They seemed to catch on that I did much better in a room alone rather than in a room of kids. And when I was younger, it was more frequent because kids make noise - I can't focus with annoying noises so I would often fail when not alone.
So, yeah, home schooling works out 100 times better than public schooling. I generally tend to feel better, smile more, not as irritable, have a little more energy, don't have to deal with the daily drama of my friends, I don't get bullied, my grades are all passing, no homework, more computer time, more food so I don't pass out, etc.
I love home schooling. But about the only downside is no Gym class... which wasn't a problem for me because I already got all my gym credits.
The only real tough time I had was learning ASL... you learn it by video tape so that was harder than learning by a teacher but I still managed.
