Default Schools and workplaces blocking sites - your views

What are your thoughts about schools and workplaces blocking certain sites such as Facebook and Myspace? Do you think theyre fairly blocked and for good reasons or that they should be accessible from there for you?

Personally I believe theyre blocked for good reasons and no you shouldnt have access to them there. If youre at school you have break and dinner time to socialise and its the same at work. I dont see why someone should be paid to slack off work and sit chatting on Facebook even if it if theyve finished their work, they should find something else to do which is worth being paid for.

What do you reckon?

I agree.
If the school's and workplace's didn't block website's like Facebook, Myspace and Bebo, then work wouldn't be done.
In school's children will fall behind on classwork and homework/coursework which would be really troublesome.
And at work, those that don't get their work done would end up being fired.
*Sigh* But this just show's you how obsessed everyone's becoming with website's such as Facebook.

I agree
although it deprives people of having fun it helps us to get on with our work rather than getting distracted by games and other websites like facebook.
However it is ocassionally annoying when they block a website that is needed for work and its blocked when there is nothing wrong with it.
However overall blocking is good, its also for our own protection and also in the end you can just go on it at home, come on people can wait a few hours xD

I say fair play.
Work needs to be done and with sites like facebook avaliable then no work would get done.
(of course i didnt agree with it when i was in school )

I think that its fair that they are blocked.
If they REALLY have to unblock them, do it at lunchtimes etc. but I don't see why someone would have to check their facebook during school. They probably wont have any notifications anyway seeing as all their friends are at school!

What bugs me is that some sites that don't need blocking are blocked!! (Such as Legally Blonde the Musical UK... wait, maybe I'm the reason it's blocked!)

I reckon it's probably a good idea they're blocked. School and college is for work, can go on facebook and stuff like that at home.

In saying that now that bumperball.com has been blocked at college I don't know how I'm going to cope during my general studies lessons...okay, myabe thats the reason they've been blocked, so we all pay attention
