The thing is, that name existed before the Reindeer, by the way.

So? This doesn't stop the constant mockery of how girly it sounds.
Besides, I already knew it's a unisex name.

Also, I'm certain that was his last name but his first is clearly feminine.

It's also the name of a city in Arizona.

It was actually named that in relation to the fact it was a city that died but was born again. So it was named after the legend of the Phoenix.
Ironically, it's the hottest major city in the US - and I mean that literally.

So it wasn't named after it, it was named after the legend of it.

However, that doesn't mean it makes a good name for a child. A city? Yeah. But I would find naming a child that to be a little... hippy-ish.
It's just like naming a boy America.

It makes me want to facepalm considering "America" is the feminine form of "Amerigo".
[And this is one reason why America is often called a "she"]

Or naming a daughter Lolita... oh dear, if only people knew.

I like unusual names To be honest but not ones that are gonna get a kid bullied!
Seriously like i'm sure sylvestor stallone called his kid something like sage moonblood.
and katie price called her daughter princess tiiaami (although tiiaami can be a bit cute).

♥. Just another day like any other,
Nothing in the sky said run for cover,
There was no parade,
No lights flashing,
No songs to sing along the way. ♥

One thing I didn't understand: why is giving your baby an unusual name narcissism?

i think it's joking (!!!) (i remember a boy who was called tom-tom (do you know the navigation system TomTom?)) or just wanting one's baby to be very individual, but when the baby doesn't decide whether to get this name or not, it can't be narcissism.

i like unusual names, if they belong of one's culture.
that means: giving a chinese name like Hyun-Lee to a western girl (without any chinese relatives) is just... i dont like it.
but giving a rare - but not exotic - name is nice...
