Question Space Exploration Funding

In your opinion, should more money go towards space exploration than what is currently going towards it? Do you think it is important or not?

Personally I think more should go towards it with a concentration on near Earth objects, such as researching the Apophis asteroid which will pass Earth in 2029 fairly closely.

What are your thoughts?

Actually i don't know
maybe this money that they spend them to explore the space could
discover something interesting or maybe they will discover a cure of a disease

or maybe they will waste that money for nothing
i don't know what the future hide no one knows but
let's just hope it'll be better

I believe they should put the funding towards further research on asteroids, like the one you mentioned, to predict where and when they will land.

This is off topic but, the only chance that asteroid will hit us is if it passes through a tiny "key hole" which will send it veering off into our planet. Chances are slim, if it does happen, we'll shoot it down! x3

They have information of where it could land and a rough idea of when too already (theres some sort of destruction path image in wikipedia about it), but a big problem is if they were to blow it up they would just be breaking it into more pieces which would shower us and possibly cause even more widespread damage than it hitting the Earth as a whole.

One thing that I wonder is that if scientists messing with the paths of such asteroids like how they will test if they can bump them off into another direction could cause us worse damage than we would be in for, for example if they tried pushing one off its course and ended up sending it right at us because the nuclear explosion they used wasnt calculated correctly.

True. We can't avoid catastrophe forever, can we? xD

Did you know there is technology that could locate bombs heading to a country and this technology could destroy it in mid-air?
It was started back while Reagan was president and was shut down when Clinton was president, started back up when Bush was president, and is currently shut down again.
This technology is a satellite of some sort that could protect us all.
However, it has a few bugs in the system still.

Well, the point is, it's up in space and in theory could protect us from more than bombs.
However, since it's been shut down so many times it could take forever for it to work.
It was started by NASA I believe, as well.

Different money goes to different things. I believe more money should go to space exploration.

Also, I'd like to add... you can get a lot of inspiration from movies (Armageddon, anyone?).
