She means the closest thing you get to maxinum punishment instead of death is 25 years in prison.

Me: I'm against it for good reasons to. Death penalty you are dead. If something pops up your family is pissed and I can grant any money that they'll be a lawsuit or Govermental penalty "If that exists where you live." Life in prison is more of a punishment because you deal with others raping, assaulting and harassing you. You deal with what you did to others. If your proven innocent to then you get out of jail without the damage of death. There's no good reason for the death penalty except shortening prison capacity and expanding graveyards.

Even then that's not the best reason.

That's not so much the point though, the death penalty sends a message to others.
If you do this, then you'll die. Like if you ride a rollercoaster without being in safely, you're going to fall out... and die.
The tip is this, get in safely.

It's the same thing, do this and you'll die.

Criminals get free room and 3 meals a day. If prison was hell, I'd agree with you but heck I actually know people who are perfectly content with going in and out of prison.
They feel no remorse for their actions and constantly do it over again.

That being said, fear needs to be put back into people to help prevent future actions.

And by that I mean using the death penalty on someone who is no doubt about it guilty.
I say again that it isn't done right away, I've heard of cases where someone was on death row for 10 years - some were executed and others were let go.

Also, parole. Rapists, murderers, anyone gets a chance for parole even when it's stated that they get no chance for it.
Also, old people... not as harmless as you think. Being batshit insane doesn't change, young or old.
People like Manson and all his followers, those people shouldn't exist in this world because it will constantly infect a new generation.
Morbid curiosity. If someone were to find their criminal fascination were alive, then they would want to prove to them how well they can recreate what they've done to them.
And, yes, there are people this insane in the world.

That's very much how I feel too with some of the same reasons! I dont like the death penalty at all!

I think mass murderers/murderers and such should be given the death sentence when they dont show any remorse for their actions, perhaps even mocking those lives they have took away and only when the evidence is obvious that they have killed others. I agree it would be effective as you arent going to do something to others which will end up with yourself being killed, but to be honest I dont think the people who are mass murderers give a crap about their own life so it wouldnt be 100% effective but nothing ever could be.

I also agree with Weaverone, a death penalty seems like nothing compared to what they may go through in prison but I know if one of my family were to be killed I would want the murderer tortured and then killed as I would want them to go through the same pain as they caused me losing my family member and ruined their one and only life and for then them to have no life.

i think the death penalty should only be used in cases of pre-meditated murder or rape. if it's hot-blooded, than that person may not be so likely to do it again. however, with cold-blooded murder, the guy had it all planned and knew exactly what he was doing. i think the dp is the best detterrent for people not to kill/rape in the first place
