Even still, if alarms start sounding - you would naturally want to get out so you would find a door.

It's called common sense, most people have it and it should be used.
I don't believe in accommodating the minority. Learn things before you go somewhere.

And no, not everyone would understand it - I can think of many who would not.
Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people don't understand signs with JUST pictures.
Now, if the sign were red, had the word exit on it and would flash then that would be fine.
But a stationary green picture is just stupid.

Also, those signs are much less noticeable than ***FLASHING RED EXIT SIGNS***
Green tends to blend in more naturally with things, red doesn't - I seriously don't give a fuck what the colors mean - red is more noticeable.

But again, if it were the same picture but flashing and red with the word exit on it... then it would be a different story.

I see no point in changing them just because a small number of people do not have the brains to look up important things.
