Okay two things here dude.

1. This goes with your quote, what are we "getting?"
Tell me what good this Healthcare Bill will do? It will
raise our taxes and give us no choice of how much
coverage we get, what doctor we have, etc.

Listen, this is supposed to be a "democracy." Where
the people get to "choose." This Healthcare Bill is more
of a "socialist" thing. I mean really, the government gets
to control how many times I can go to the doctor? The
government gets to choose when and where I can go to
see if I have cancer??? Are you out of your freaking mind!?

My grandma has breast cancer. My grandfather has prostate
cancer. My dad has skin cancer. And I'll be damned if the
government gets to say when and where they can get treatment.

2. You just said that you can't afford healthcare now.
Please elaborate on how your going to be able to
afford higher taxes?

Did you know that people will get only 10 visits to the doctor yearly,
and no matter how much it costs you over those ten visits, the
government will ONLY pay 10,000.

Let's say someone gets diagnosed with leiukemia. I know damn
well it's going to cost more than 10,000 dollars and ten visits.

Doctors are going to quit their jobs because the government will
control how much they get paid. If that isn't socialism then
what the hell is it? Were going to lose great doctors, adn there
will be a shortage. Therefore, people will have to wait
longer for treatments and people are going to die.

The Senate can only sugarcoat so damn much.

Health insurance costs something like 100-110 a month for me. Higher taxes won't get anywhere near that amount.

Also, again. You don't have to use the govts. health care. You can get a private firm. If you are unhappy with what care they will provide, then get some other goddamned insurance. It's that simple.

All of these negative effects of the health care are predicated upon the worst possible outcome. By the way, say I have govt. health care and I get cancer, did you know part of the law says insurance companies can't deny you coverage based on a pre-existing condition? so you can switch if you need more then 10k and 10 visits.

Edit: to your first point.

The good that we are getting? Health care seems good to me...

Default Re: Health Care Bill.

In short, I do not want it.

The people do not want it and therefore it should not be passed.

Thanks but no thanks, the people don't want it and the government doesn't know what's best for me. Like I really want a bunch of paper pushers telling me what is best for me.

What we fucking need is 180 degrees the opposite. Back before government programs were implemented - it was fucking great.
It was the government that made it as bad as it is now.

Oh, we need change - that is certain. But the change we need is the opposite of this.

WHICH. IS. FUCKING. WHY THESTATESAREFIGHTINGITGODDAMNIT!!
OBVIOUSLY the VAST majority of people do not want it - as a matter of fact most want the opposite!

I don't give a damn if it's the best fucking system in the world, we can't afford it - we are already dipping into the non-existent social security (right, it doesn't actually exist) and Medicare and Medicade. Yeah, we are dipping into funds that are already broke.
Throughout history the government has shown that it can't run jack shit and if it can then it runs it right into the ground.

The people, who elected these sorry mother fuckers, do not want it. Therefore it should not be done.
End of story.

But, ha ha ha, this could end well for me. Finally, I might be able to get out of this country without actually leaving (that is, if the TX government gets a fucking clue and listens to their people). But that's for my own selfishness, because if Texas fucking did what I said then so many people would flock here that eventually everyone in TX would get sick and tired of how many were wanting it.

So, by all means, bankrupt the country even more than it already is - we're in so deep right now, what's another TRILLION DOLLARS (for those who don't know the value of a Dollar - that's a lot, more than you'll ever hope to see in your life actually) to our debt?!

I don't want it, but since I love my country to the extent that I do, naturally I want what is best for it - and right now, that's a rude awakening.

Fuck it, if it passes - and it will - a bunch of people will leave the country, a bunch will be calling for secession, and the US really has no choice but to let us leave (it's in the constitution - not that anyone reads it because if they did then this wouldn't be passing as it is unconstitutional).

Oh, now, if the states want to do state run health care, let them - I don't give a shit.
Two states have it already and are bankrupt.

Fuck all you ass holes who don't know any better, I'm leaving and I'm only coming back when this country wakes up.
With any luck, we'll have another civil war on our hands (as OMG - it's like totally treason to let states leave the country *rollseyes*).

Whatever, I don't want it and you can bet without a doubt I'll do everything in my power to stop it. But if it passes, and it will, then I'll watch this country crash and burn from a safe distance.

Now that I think about it, I should start urging my cousins and grandmother to start looking for different jobs now (ones a doctor, ones in medical school, and the last is a nurse) - none of them want it, but better too soon than too sorry.

So let it pass! The question is, where in the hell are we gonna move to?!

Also... if we change our system... then where the hell are the Canadians gonna go to get treated?
[Seriously, we have more illegal Canadians than we do Mexicans and they all come here for the same reason~]

Oh, but that's then end of my rant, I see no logical point in being rational when i know it's going to pass. So now I'm being blunt and realistic in a very crazed manor.

My end is:
Sayonara Suckers!

Oh, also, nothing is free - I'd be paying for it against my will. Which is robbery.
Which is wrong. Which would make it legalized theft. Charities would take in less and less.
Just because the rich get poorer, doesn't mean the poor get richer.
Also, the government has a horrid track record.
I don't care how great you think the NHS is - you've been living in that nightmare since 1946. That's all you know, but I know better than that because I've seen better (I've seen both actually) and it's 180 degrees the opposite.

Oh, and, for future reference... this is all I have to say on the matter as soon it will mean nothing to me at all, so I see no reason to keep bickering about it.
Oh, sure, Washington said for us not to meddle in the affairs of Europeans (unless it was in our best interest, that is, which is the only reason we got involved in the World Wars, I might add) but that CLEARLY doesn't work both ways. Sure, they can bitch for our systems to change but we can't bitch about theirs. Uh-huh, yeah sure.

My point is, you should bother replying to any of this as after this post, it don't matter to me anymore. Pass, fail, it's all the same to me either way.
I'll treat myself if I have to, because I'm sure as hell am not using this system. Many doctors will quit, so it cannot be done - they'll be over worked and under staffed. It's impossible to add that many people and lose so many workers.
The math is against it which mean care will be rationed - do the fucking math.

Private health care won't be an option. Why should it be? You act like people are stupid!
I mean really, why should there by when the ALMIGHTY GOVERNMENT can pay for it all? Businesses won't want to offer that as it will only cost them more money.
Here's a big idea, make it to where people can buy insurance across states - that actually helps you know!

And that's it, I'm seriously done now. I'm gonna look for a new country now, kthxbai.

The bill will cut the deficit by a couple billion dollars. Or so they say, this is the one part of the bill I don't see really working.. Idk how it could cut the debt. But supposedly it will. It won't erase it, but if i remember right it's something like 12.8 billion after 10 years.

edit: just looked it up - most recent estimate says 143 billion over 10 years. Idk where i got 12.8

Ah, see, I told you...:

Link [news.yahoo.com]

Okay, so I'm officially calling for a massive gravitation to the Republic of Ireland or a secession of the states. And this was the final straw, so many people will be for it now.
I'm more for the latter though.

Anyway, it's a live update. Congratulations, we're fucked.
I'm going to stock up on my medication (ha! see, I knew not taking it for so long would pay off) and people will start getting in surgery they've been putting off. Doctors will quit ASAP.
Laziness will sky-rocket.
This is the day that everything America stood for has officially died. Our democracy has failed us as this was not the decision of the people. This was the decision of the government.

It's sad, but today is the day I officially renounce my status as an American. I'm still an American Patriot - which is why I'm going to aid in setting this country right, back to the Republic it was meant to be.
But, our true freedom is dead, therefore I'm going back to what I do best - being a Southern Nationalist.

As for why I'm saying this, it's my unofficial declaration.

Speaking of which, 37 states are prepared to ask for sovereignty under the 10 Amendment.
Some of which, have already passed.

Seen what? I'm happy with the NHS, and so are most of the people I know. Sure it's not perfect, but it does it's job, at least NHS Scotland does anyway. Maybe you're right, maybe universal healthcare won't work in the US, but it works for us and it seems to work for places like Finland and Sweden.

And don't you think it's a bit much to stop considering yourself an American just because of the healthcare system? Not that it's any of my business, move if you must.

Paragonal, there's really no point in arguing any further.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about, and
Marietta CLEARLY has got the idea. More people should listen to her.

no I do not think it's a bit much, that's like saying
your health isn't a big deal. it's official, your an idiot.

Health is just about the most important thing
there is, because if you don't have your health,
your left with....death. So, AltarofMadness, think

Will you please stop with the personal insults? I'm only stating my opinion.

And I know health is important, and I wasn't implying any one is an idiot. I was simply wondering why someone would stop associating with their country because of the healthcare system (because either way, you're going to get some form of healthcare), but that's her choice, maybe she just feels strongly about this.

That was actually a very good video. He spoke a little fast but he didn't sugar coat it. Although I did notice, he didn't mention what kind of tax hikes would effect the middle/lower classes.. If ours go up .9 percent as well, that's... not very much.
