Possible copycat. Jack the Ripper has a huge cult following, most of whome try to solve the murders but others wish to relive it (though I hear very few act on it).

The way I see it is that he must of had some reason for wanting to kill a bunch of hookers.
But I also see it as it doesn't matter anymore, it happened. You can have idea after idea but with no means to actually prove it.

I do doubt it was female though, I mean how many females have doctoral experience back then who would also have surgical experience who could also be strong enough to take down women used to being on the streets and then begin to butcher them.
No, it's more likely it was a man, as the women killed were prostitutes so luring them with a job offer is the best way to get them alone.
So odds are, it would have been a man.
Also, that is to say that female serial killers are few and far in between. I'm not saying it can't happen, but I am saying to odds are against it.
Oh, and also, the killer worked hard to cover his tracks - so not to get caught. Women are less-likely to think about killing logically, they are more heat of the moment killers.
But this was planned carefully, he knew his victims, he knew how to manipulate them accordingly, he purposely took them to places where he could kill them but then they would be found in the morning.
The killings were too thought-out.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't matter, what I think would be one in a million of possibilities. I wasn't there, I don't know what happened.

Yes but he was not born in 1888, it is when he started killing people so he most likely was age 30 - 50 back then.

For Jack the Ripper to still be alive would be either a miracle or a tragedy. I'm pulled in both directions. It would be close to impossible for him to still be living, but it's just that 0.0000001% that's getting at me.

jack the ripper is not alive any more. the new york murder happened around the same era and so it's not something where he's passed it o to his son, and was most likely a copycat crime. the new york society just wanted to feel as though they were a part of the mystery of who jack was. i very highly doubt he passed on any tips to his children. if he had children, by the sound of things they would have been with prostitutes, and the prostitutes would have been killed about 9 months before childbirth?

But i agree with Marietta on all counts. it was an awfully long time ago, doesn't really matter to me (even if it is kind of interesting) and it was most certainly a man.

I have read a old report that thay head the idea that Jack the Ripper was many people.

In this time any murderrer that people do not now who, how or why he killed more than 20 people are called Jack the ripper.

He is definantly not alive, I doubt that he was a teenager when the attacks where carried
out to have done what he did you'd need to have some surgical knowledge, so he was
probably a doctor/ surgeon.
