Icon1 Thoughts on US Internet Kill Switch

It is now meant to be approved in the US meaning the internet can be shut down at the flick of the US governments switch, what are your thoughts on this? I can see businesses being really angry about it, imagine their losses when it would be turned off, the lost time on the net for those paying customers to ISP's, how do you feel about it? I think I would be angry myself if I lived there.

For those wanting to read about it heres a link:

That sounds like an awfully communist thing to do in such an anti-communist country.

Ohh, the controversy.

And you all said I was crazy paranoid.

No comment, most of you can already guess anyway.
Now I'm off to shakedown people who owe me money for being right.

And really it's technically in violation of the First Amendment. Technically blogs, forums, and petition sites are all under it.
Blogs are basically the press.
Forums can be free assembly.
Petition sites are just that too.

But then again, lots of laws we have now are in violation of either the Constitution or Amendments.
And yet the masses are okay with them anyway. This surprises me though. They must really think the masses are total dumbasses. Okay, well, I'll give them that.

Also I should add, I don't care what excuses they say they will use this for. Use your brains, because you're really gullible if you believe them.

And finally they may say it's for security. But anyone who chooses "security" over freedom is a total dumbass. Also anyone who actually believes government, which is full of a bunch of cheats and liars, is a sheep and a dumbass.
Be skeptical, it'll probably save you life.

We actually haven't been totally anti-communist in a long time. Otherwise, there'd be much more of a huge blow up about this and the people would try to really do something about it.
Personally, I haven't seen anything like that.

Indeed, I have heard of this.
I think it is just merely another claim for power from typical America. The World Wide Web is a British design so I hope they think twice before taking it from us.

All I can say is if they pass it the people will fight back (espically the Tea Parties and militias), its highly communist and dictator and should never pass. we already have the FCC telling us what you can and can not watch unless you pay more, having control of the free world of internet is just wrong.

I think two citations from the article are in place:

"It's been frustrating to read some of the misrepresentations of our bill in the cybersphere"

and

...would give the president "emergency authority to shut down private sector or government networks in the event of a cyber attack capable of causing massive damage or loss of life."

Don't worry. If the president wants to shut off the internet on the grounds of "national security", there's no need for a law. The American government has banned communism and alcohol in the past, so there is no reason to think it would have any problem banning the internet, if it was considered a threat.

This law appears to allow the president a fast shutdown to prevent a violent virus attacking the entire network, in order to give some computer geeks a couple of days to protect their servers. We've seen events like this in the past.

So don't worry about your constitutional rights. They are well protected, as long as you trust in God (the Christian one, of course) and do nothing else than work, pay your taxes and raise a proper Christian family.
