Default Iowa's "Healthy Kids" Act

Honestly can't stand this going into full effect this year. For those of you that are unaware of what the healthy kids act click here [iowa.gov].

Just seems like communism to me. Teachers can leave the building or order food for lunch, the students get the shitty end of the stick here with no pop, pizza, french fries and the list goes on. Along with that the teachers get to keep their pop machines while we get left with crappie drinks unless we bring our own (and by lunch will be hot for most).

What do you guys think of this?

Giving us the choice to eat shit a or shit b is still shit either way.
There's nothing wrong with having unhealthy food along side healthy ones, when given the choice kids are more likely to choose a balance anyway.

When I was going to school and had to buy my lunch, we had options on what we could buy, thing is they kept trying to feed us all the disgusting healthy crap when they could have easily replaced it with just as healthy and better tasting foods.
It got to the point where eventually all I'd ever get was the pizza... and then I'd just eat the crust because the pizza was made with supposedly healthy stuff or whatever.

It seems noble, but there's nothing noble in forcing kids to eat something they don't wanna eat. And taking lunch to school? Oh please most people these day's can't afford to do that anymore, hell my state doesn't tax food, both my parents make good income, and even going to a public school we still couldn't afford to let me nor my sister take our lunches.
And the vending machines? Ha! I scoff at it. Healthy or not, there's never going to be anything in there to fill anyone up anyway. Not including that, there's the outrageous prices they charge.

Honestly, just sell fucking hamburgers and mac & cheese, some fries, some fruits and veggies, kids'll eat that.

And oh please, no flavored water?! What kind of messed up shit is that?!

Okay now forgetting the kids for a minute here, the state shouldn't even be allowed to make this call. The schools can, but not the state.

Maybe a bit over the top, but sometimes it really sucks what low quality/unhealthy food they serve to save money.

Kids just have to be healthier somehow or there's just going to be shitloads of diabetes.

I can understand for the younger kids but once a kid gets into middle/high school it should not really matter. Thought part of growing up was making your own decisions.

Now, I am all for healthy food in schools. Child obesity rates are going through the roof, its insane. Do we want to be one of the fattest countries for the rest of our exsistence??? Kids, also dont choose the healthy choice is presented with both kinds of food. They almost always choose shit food. It tastes better. Even Marietta said she wouldn't eat anything but the crust on the pizza becuase it was supposidly made with healthy stuff.

However, the healthy shit they feed us in schools is gross. I won't eat it. Thats for sure. However, I do know some schools who cook their own food. From fresh instead of frozen. I believe this is what our schools need to get back too. Fresh, homecooked, healthy meals, like they would find at home.

I lived in Iowa my whole life but just moved to Texas 2 years ago. I always bring lunch from home because I don't trust the shit they feed at schools. I do think though that the US in all needs less obese people and atleast Iowa is trying.

In theory, the idea sounds great. I suppose that the problem is that the healthy food isn't all that tasty, which is all a question of how they cook it. It may very well be, that as a result of this act, there will be some extra pressure on better cooking, instead of escaping to junk.

So in the long run, this may be a good thing. But you'll have to get rid of your belief that tasty food is unhealthy and vice versa. Otherwise, you will never demand proper food in schools.

All it takes is some decent personnel in the kitchen with some motivation, and all these vegetables and low-fat meat turn into a yummy lunch. For real.
