Ah, so when you put it that way, maybe I shouldn't go back in time and kill Hitler, I should go back in time and stop that tax from happening; that'll save half my family from being murdered in the Holocaust, right?

I was stating the monetary aspect, not the moral aspect.
The war itself was really bad, I'm not insinuating it wasn't. Don't act as though you were the only one to have ancestors involved in that war, I did too.
Actually if you did do that, kill Hitler, more people would have suffered in the long run of things. In the depression many world wide died and suffered from it. I'm not saying what Hitler did was good or right, it was down right horrible to where I can't even describe. I'm just saying that war, like anything else in this world, has negative repercussions and positive benefits.
Also if it wasn't for war, the Jews and everyone else persecuted wouldn't have been saved.
What I mean is, the Allies choosing to fight back instead of rolling over and getting stomped upon that is.
It dragged us out of a depression that could have lasted a long time.
Or and also if you did stop that tax from happening it probably would have also been bad.
If it had been stopped than the US would have been stronger, so would the other Allied countries. At which point who's to say Nazi Germany would have tried to invade stronger countries?
Here's the thing, a lot of the counties involved were involved for their own sake, not for the sake of saving others but for saving themselves. In the case of the US, they wanted to stay out of it... but those damned Japanese just had to go and push us to fight.
And even still, many citizens did not want to get involved with the war.
So basically, going back and changing anything would have done more harm than good.
Instead of changing it, we should learn from it.
As with all things, there is a positive and negative side to war. That was all I was saying.
Oh and, no it wouldn't because if that tax never happened, the US was flourishing, which means other nations not effect by the tax were in better condition, if Hitler or any other Axis decided to expand their territory then more people would have died in the Holocaust.
It's really sick how these things work out sometimes, isn't it? Oh and I say they probably wouldn't attack because think about it... what bully with any brains would wanna attack a healthy bully that's twice his size?
Sometimes the worst horrors come along in order for long term gain. Hitler was stopped, that's all that matters. Now it's history, therefore we should learn from it. Going back and changing anything just means it'll happen again because that history wouldn't be around for anyone to learn.
