But then we wouldn't be able to choose to worship God.
God didn't want to control us, he wanted us to think for ourselves.
Peace in bondage? Where's the fun in that?
If we have peace then we should be able to make it of our own free will, not because we are being controlled.
The greatest gift is free will because either we will destroy ourselves with it, or we will flourish with it.
With every good thing also comes the bad. With no free will or ability to think for ourselves, we would have died off long ago - killing ourselves over basic instinct. It wouldn't have brought us peace, it would have just made us mindless animals.
Even if we did have peace, it wouldn't mean a thing because we would have no concept of anything but peace.
Therefore we would also have no justice or law. So killing would become means of survival.
Personally speaking, I'd rather make peace of my own free will than be forced to live as an animal living with no free will or concept of right and wrong.
I mean where's the fun in that?
By the way, God gave us free will so we would choose to follow him, if all people listened to God and choose to listen to God then there would be no war, their would be peace.
But, you know, there is this one thing we like to call Satan or the Devil. He uses God's gift against us.
So it's simple, don't give into Satan's temptation.
He wanted us to have strength, as His chosen creation.
At least that's my take on it, peace with no meaning isn't peace it all.
Those who sacrifice freedom for security, in all truth, deserve neither... after all.
I, for one, like my free will to do the right thing. Or the wrong thing. After all even with no free will, selfishness would still exist.
So really, there wouldn't be peace. Just look at animals, they fight as well. Except we, as those with free will are willing to accept peace whereas animals are not.
I guess God really didn't want us to be mindless blithering animals.
Or in short, peace is nothing without war and war is nothing without peace. In order to create, one must first destroy.
If you wish for peace, you must destroy all the bad blood. For how can anyone with a brain trust someone who was attacking them and slaughtering their people days ago?
Peace is something achievable. But all parties have to want it. Laying on your back isn't the way to gain peace, it's a way to gain bondage.
Personally, I wouldn't be happy getting trampled on. Power corrupts people, therefore in order to gain peace you must destroy the corrupt that is controlling the masses.
Peace is regarded highly for a reason after all, because it doesn't come without a price.
But... that's just my take on it. I like my free will and ability to choose.
Oh and what Daniela said. Eventually one would come along to change that so called peace.
And, the mindless would agree with him because that would be the first new idea to come along in a long time. They would treat him as if he were a god. And really, God wouldn't like that.

but eventually someone would think ahead... like someone always does and start a revolution
When you said that, I thought of the song Evolve. If you don't know, it has a line in it that says, "If you want a revolution the only solution: evolve, gotta evolve."
I think that's kinda funny/ironic because many extremely religious people don't believe in evolution.
I truly believe that the only way to attain true peace is for the people to be controlled. They might get upset for not having a voice, but if they are controlled, they can't make a war about it, thus remaining peace, even if it's a fake peace.
The most disvantageous peace is better than the most just war.
A lover knows only humility; he has no choice...
He steals into your alley at night; he has no choice...
He longs to kiss every lock of your hair; don't fret, he has no choice...
In his frenzy of love for you, he longs to break the chains of his imprisonment; he has no choice...
Ah, but who's doing the controlling? Someone power hungry and who is willing to control the people.
Because those in charge always get more, it doesn't matter what you are talking about.
And then the people at the bottom, when dealing with control, will get screwed over and eventually realize what's going on then things would come to a halt and when nothing gets done, we all either die or fend for ourselves.
Control is not peace, for what are those in control doing but fighting a constant battle in order to control the people.
What is peace if no one chooses it? A war with nature.
We have free will, thus we should make peace based on that will.
If that never happens then peace is not something that can be achieved.
If it does happen then it's a testament to our will.
Also you contradicted yourself. Which is it, true peace or fake peace? Make up your mind please.

Not always. War is hell, yes, but it has proven to be advantageous in History. The most recent being WWII.
It helped most everyone get out of the depression. A depression which was caused by a variety of things, but the most prominent being a tax and since taxes are a way to control people... look at what happened there.
People starved, fought, went crazy, lived poorly, etc. all because of a tax that was meant to control.
And then look at what happened when they tried to control it again, everything got worse.
When trying to control people the effect is always adverse. Because those in control never do what they say they are going to do.
We'd all be living in hell if we were controlled. Better a few wars and temporary hell with many feeling both positive and negative effects than for us to live in control and all feel the negative effects. Because also often times those feeling the positive effects will help those feeling the negative.
Unless the only ones feeling the positives are those in control, that is.

Couldn't he just have not given us free will and let us have peace on earth?
We wouldn't miss what we never had.
God and free will. It's one of those issues without an answer.
The Bible starts with the story about the Garden of Eden and the tree of knowledge. In a sense, you could say that man's life was supposed to be peaceful and calm, but he (or she?) insisted on taking another course.
Besides, reading the Bible makes it clear that God knows the future in advance. For example, God tells Abraham about future of the people of Israel, including the slavery in Egypt, which was still to come.
Now, if someone knows the future anyhow, how much free will is left to man?

Ah, so when you put it that way, maybe I shouldn't go back in time and kill Hitler, I should go back in time and stop that tax from happening; that'll save half my family from being murdered in the Holocaust, right?
My mother is a fairly devout catholic and she believes in evolution, I asked what she thought about Adam and Eve and all that and she said she didn't know. Just thought it was interesting.
