Euthanasia - right or wrong?

What are you thoughts on this, do you think that it is right for example, that if an old disabled and ill man wanted to die and his wife was to give him a lethal injection to relieve him of what he considers unbearable life, that she should be imprisoned for it? Should we be free to do such things at an old age if we want it more than anything?

Personally I think that if someone wanted it at that age then it shouldnt be illegal if theyre in a right state of mind of course and have many illnesses which affect their lives so much that they hate being alive because of unbearable pain.

I dont think in general it should be legal to kill someone if they wanted you to though.

Share your thoughts, theories and such

i think it's right if it's the patients wish. i'd rather end his pain than let him suffer

Wrong, because nothing is 100% certain. People have been known to actually get better, even with the odds against them.

You can dope them up on pain killers to make death more comfortable for them, but kill them when there's still a shot at them living? Even with the tiniest chance, it's still a chance so you may very well kill someone who would have lived if you would have kept of treating them accordingly.

Just because someone is in pain doesn't mean they should be able to die.
It's no different than suicide in my humble opinion.

Also it can be abused... a lot.

I'd never allow anyone I know to get a lethal injection, even if they wanted it. If they are meant to die, then they'll die with or without an injection, so in pain or not they can die naturally, not from someone killing them out of a false sense of mercy.

Thats quite true, I didnt actually think of it like that. I can imagine plenty of people offing their older family members just to get their wills and things like that.

So why shouldn't people be able to choose to die? It's their life.. I think that if they are concious and want the injection, it's all sweet
