I'm serious, it's against the constitution of America. The Church isn't allowed into politics, so why is that when it come to things like Gay marriage and abortions that people start bring Him in?
I find this both unfair and wrong, not only those it sway the mass it also put many many people in tight positions. I believe the death penalty is ok, but then people start getting angry at me and I get nervous to voice my opinions.
What do you think?

The consitution doesnt ban God or worshipping God or religion. It just seperates church and state. All this means is that 1. The state will never "be" the church (in other words obv no religion will rule america, but the 3 govt braches will be democratilly ellected) and 2. Ppl will not be persecuted by either choosing to practice religion OR choosing not too.
Beyond that, ppl are free to feel and say what they wish. A person can say 1. Abortion is wrong bc religious reasons 2. Abortion is wrong for reasons outside religion 3. Abortion is ok and give religious reasons to support that belief 4. Abortion is ok and say religion plays no part in it.
But religion will always play sum part in politics bc 1. Majority of ppl believe in a higher power of sum kind 2. Religion is devicive for many reasons (mostly bc there are sooo many different forms of religion) 3. Religion plays such a big part of many ppls lives (for instance many ppl believe they would be dead, jailed, poor, single, etc w/o spiritual intervention; also many ppl believe thru religion
they will have eternal life which severely makes mortal life seem small and short) 4. Religions have financial and influential power bc of lobbyists and money 5. I can go on but am getting tired lol
Essentially ppl bring God into the discussion bc God is important to them and they know God is important to most ppl. But with more and more celeb atheists coming out idk why u would be nervous to state ur opinions? I have many debates irl about politics and religion with religious and non religious ppl
Although everyone has a right to voice their opinions, religiously motivated or not... if religion is placed over the basic human rights as set out by the UN, then there's definitely a problem.
If someone argues that gay marriage should not be allowed due to their religion, then that's a direct violation of Article 1, 2 and 16, as well as several others. Religion can be used as an argument, but if it prohibits humans from their basic rights it's just not right to act on it.
Religion will only have a place in politics as long as it exists, and religions come and go all the time... change all the time. Perhaps the future humans will abolish religion because they don't see it as necessary, or perhaps more will be created. We never know.
Either way the special interest groups are going to claim that the government is forcing religion onto them. Take a god out and they claim Atheism is being pushed onto them throw a god in there the religion that god represents is being "forced" onto them. There is no win win solution unless the way the government was aligned was completely changed.
Moral issues play into many of our laws today, and many of these laws were preached by the Bible and other religious holy texts. So it seems rather ridiculous to rule out any religious interference in our government, law, and politics. Of course, God is not a reason to completely dismiss someone else's opinions, feelings, or thoughts.

For the sake of discussion, show me where in the constitution that it states God has no place in politics?
To be fair, we do have this concept of "Separation of Church and State", however, I think we've misconstrued what that means. But, for the sake of this discussion, that concept doesn't state that the Church has no place in politics.

Hmmm. I'll come back to this post. I haven't quite figured out how I want to address it yet.

You're making the assumption that marriage, let alone same-sex marriage is a basic human right.
Well, let's make this simple. Politics relates to everyone, laws apply to everyone.
Religion applies to the groups of people who believe in that religion.
If a Christian church has it's beliefs put into politics then every other religion should get a go.
As far as I'm concerned religion is each for their own but politics is everyones.
