I believe today's music just really sucks.
Now this is mostly opinion. But i wanted to add a thread in the debate section, cuse this section is awesome. =D
Well back on topic.
I mean i HATE lady gaga. She can't really sing, she is really REALLY fake, and all her songs are "popular" because they hold some stupid beat that gets stuck in your head.
I hate ALOT of the pop genre in general. Most of it consists of well catchy beats and lyrics that get stuck in your head. Thats about it, it is just that shallow. With the invention of auto tunning even the worst singers can become famous. Look at Rebeca Black, she took things to the EXTREME.
The fact she can EXIST is also what makes todays music suck. Look at Justin bieber, he is famous from youtube. Which i will say is fine with me. But his songs are simple and are truly for a certain age group of girls. He will prob die out like alot of others.
so yes i HATE modern music.

There have always been terrible bands and terrible songs written... the year doesn't change that. Sure, you may have to search a little harder to find the good music, but it's still there.

I agree to some extent. I like modern music, just a lot of the stuff that gets popular? Not so much. I do like some Gaga songs, but not that much. Now it just seems like she's trying too hard to be offensive. Being offensive doesn't mean it's art, people.
Personally I prefer Rock n Roll, Country, Southern Rock, Rapcore, Humor/Parody and Rap Metal of which can be found ranging from the 50's to Now. But none of it gets real popular (mainstream). At least, not today, popular today is, well, Pop.
But I'll listen to anything that sounds good, I don't have a disdain for modern music, just make it good - that's all I ask. It's just like back in the 60's and 70's... there was a lot of good stuff, oh yes. But there was a lot of bad stuff, so much bad stuff.
There's good and bad music everywhere so new or old, regardless of genre, I only care if it sounds good.
Although, a lot of what I hear playing on the radio and what's "popular" is pretty shitty. Not all of it but the vast majority.
So yeah. I just like good music. I don't care who makes it. I don't care about the genre. I don't care when it's made. So long as it's good.
More or less, I agree, I'm just saying not all modern music is bad - a lot is pretty good. It's just that a lot of the mainstream is bad.

You have a point. a lot of the music today is just, I don't know. especially with Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Rebecca Black (as already posted an example), and Justin Beiber. All of those singers listed, I don't like whatsoever. especially Miley Cyrus. I don't know how I used to like her. >.> anyways, I like some of the music today but you know, every time you turn around, all you see is celebrity teens that can't sing to save their lives. some of them are OK but most of them, IMO, are just... not that good.
THIS is what I listen to. I've given up on the pop music genre. It....it's just terrible. Can't say I'm a big fan of country though. I'll listen to it when my family's around (that's ALL they play). My best friends....God help me.
I think a lot of miley Cyrus's songs are childish, but, on the other hand she CAN sing and sings very well with a very pretty unique voice.
