And yet... I find myself not caring.
Personally I don't think it's a big deal really.
Meh. I never cared one way or the other on this to begin with.

I support gay marriage, that's because I believe in a few things
1. Separation of church and state.
You don't have to get married in a chruch. I know that marriage is supposedly sacred, but the word marriage itself doesnt have to be religious at all. Otherwise Athiests couldn't get married.
2. Equality.
It's been the same problem throughout history. Haven't we learned? In 1865 it was the slaves. In 1920 is was women. In 1934 it was Native Americans. In the 1960's it was African Americans again. All men created equal has changed throughout history even though the definition really should be exactly the words it says.
It went from:
All White men were created equal
All men were created equal
All White men and women were created equal
All Native and White men and women were created equal
All Heterosexuals were created equal.
It took me a lot of time and a lot of thought to be able to come to my stance on this one. The teachings in Christianity show that the acts of homosexuality are sinful - that marriage is a convenant between man and woman before God....
However, this country is built upon the promise of equality for all of its citizens. There is no sub-clause that states *Heterosexual couples are only promised equality. My beliefs are my personal beliefs and I know them to be the truth. However, this does not give me the right to force such beliefs on every citizen who do not recognize or hold to the same beliefs that I do.
So, congratulations to NY for going about legalizing same-sex marriage in the proper way. (Through the legislature and not a pro-active Court). Perhaps the rest of the states will start to catch on and eventually we'll find all 50 states recognizing same-sex marriage.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love."
- Washington Irving

Well, one is having everybody equal in the eyes of the law, and the other is denying a group of people a certain right. I think it would be hard not to have an opinion...

Nope, still don't care. There's the third option of not giving a fuck either way. A state(s)could out-right ban marriage altogether and I still wouldn't care that much.
States can do whatever they want so long as that's what the people are for.
