Default Conscription

Whats your thoughts on it?

If the your country did such a thing what would you do about it?

Now conscription is the government basically haling your butt out onto the battlefield no matter what. You could possibly be hardly supplied and end up just cannon fodder.

idk this just came into my head. go at it!

Flee to either Canada or Mexico.
...Not sure which one though. I'm closer to Mexico but I have greater odds of getting kidnapped there. Canada would be a trip to get to and I might get caught because the Canadian/American border I hear is harder to get across. Illegally I mean. Then again, maybe not.

While I have respect for people who choose to protect our country and choose to go off into battle, it is not for me. And I don't wanna fight for a country that's forcing me to fight when the goal is to protect the citizens, not forcibly make them cannon fodder.

...It would be Canada. I imagine I would be able to get out of there and on a ship or plane or whatever to another country easier from there. Yup. Probably.
...I don't know.

So basically I'm against the whole idea of it. People should choose to fight not be forced to.

I guess I would just fight. I've already been thinking about joining the military, so really I don't think I would mind. The cannon fodder part I'd have a problem with. I'll be damned to be thrown to the front lines without something to protect myself with.

I wouldn't fight. But I wouldn't flee either.

Oh you get something, but the military puts you in a very bad position. Such as in the front of a charge where getting out alive doesn't seem possible.

^^ The whole point is to force them to take action. I'd refuse to go to the battlefront but they can throw me in jail if they really cared that much. If they put a gun to my head and told me to go fight, They can kill me.

^ I see that sorta as a letdown to the other men around you. I mean hell the power of a unit is your protect your combat unit, that is where men become more than just men, the only time men overcome fear.

So doing nothing is like the worst thing. Fleeing frees up some stuff for other people. Its still dishonorable, but hell at least you had enough honor to not waste time with it.

Hallace has a good point. It wouldn't be just you out on that battlefield, and you may end up having to protect other people. And, I have to ask this question, wouldn't you value your life enough to fight to protect yourself, and the men/women around you so you get home safely to your family? And help them get home safely?

Anyways, I'm not sure about it, but can't America do that? Send you out to the battlefield if there's a big war going on, or we're attacked? I remember reading something about that, if you're of age (18 I believe it was) they can just hall you out onto the battlefield.
