We can do this the long way or the short way. The long way will be in the spoiler below. The short one which I assume most people will read will be written by me.

[SPOILER]
The Roswell UFO Incident was the recovery of an object that crashed in the general vicinity of Roswell, New Mexico, in June or July 1947, allegedly an extra-terrestrial spacecraft and its alien occupants. Since the late 1970s the incident has been the subject of intense controversy and of conspiracy theories as to the true nature of the object that crashed. The United States military maintains that what was actually recovered was debris from an experimental high-altitude surveillance balloon belonging to a classified program named "Mogul";[1] however, many UFO proponents maintain that in fact an alien craft and its occupants were captured, and that the military then engaged in a cover up. The incident has turned into a widely known pop culture phenomenon, making the name Roswell synonymous with UFOs. It ranks as the most publicized and controversial of alleged UFO incidents.[2]

One of the biggest controversial topics of the 20th century and still ongoing today is the alleged crash of a UFO found near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Much evidence has been collected and recorded showing the existence of an alien crash landing, AND a government cover up. To read more about it, visit the site below.
I urge you guys to do more research, this was just introducing the topic. If it piques your interest, reasearch and post about what you think. No answer is wrong if it can be support logically.
When whatever it was crashed, military and government agents swarmed the place and basically put it on lock down. I've heard accounts from eye-witnesses saying that they saw something huge being driven past their house covered in a sheet. If it had been a weather balloon or something, it wouldn't have gotten that much attention.
My belief? It happened. It's real, and the government really thinks we're stupid enough to not think something suspicious happened.
The thing is, it didn't get much attention until the 1980's by ufologists that examined and saw that something wasn't exactly right. The people of the town either kept silent about it, or they believed the government.
My thoughts?
I think that the government is with holding some information even if the crash wasn't an alien UFO (which it most likely is)
I wouldn't jump to say it was a UFO (I'm still iffy on if there really is other life), but they're hiding something. Back then, I would assume people either believed the government, or kept their mouths shut (maybe threatened?). I believe where the 'thing' crashed was not in a very populated area, so people might have either seen weird stuff all the time, or they just didn't want any media attention.
The southwest has alot of reported alien visitations. This may be because all of the top secret testing the united states is doing out in the arizona, new mexico, and nevada deserts.
I would bank more on the top secret testing. I mean, I'm not a huge believer on alien stuff, and I know the government tries to hide things. However, show me real actual proof and I'll open my mind more to it. It's really the CIA I don't trust. Who knows what the hell they do.
I think the government is hiding alot of things. o.O and altough im terrified of aliens, i think they do exist . Theirs too many stories and evidence for someone to be onehundred percent shure their arent any :o
I think of it this way: There is ALOT of conclusive and strong circumstantial evidence and some inconclusive direct evidence that alien life does exist. The problem is whether to believe the circumstantial evidence of not. And if we have been visited for the past 10,000 years or MORE i think it says alot about our visitors that they havent eliminated us yet. In fact, evidence shows they actively reproduced, and encouraged and fostered human life.
Maybe the alien life forms, if they exist, are above a cognition of good and evil based simply off of their views, and are benevolent, atleast to a point where the humans would depict them as gods instead of a regular form of person.
