My girlfriend and I have been together for 4 months and 25 days (I count, deal with it)
I would do anything forr her, I lose sleep for her, I deal with her problems, I'm always there, and I can say that I love her. Not for sex, but for her. I love her, and I fancy myself smart enougb to know my emotions.
Maybe it is an infatuation, but I find myself wanting her more and more, it doesn't seem to be going away

kids can love, but i don't think they really even know themselves enough until a certain point in life to know what kind of person they really should be with. i think it takes a certain level of maturity to really understand being IN love.
like, when i was 14 or 15, i totally thought i was head-over-heels, going to marry this guy. THANK GOD i grew out of that phase, even if my poor little self moped around for a few weeks after that ordeal. i'm such a different person now than i was even just a few years ago.
i've only told 2 people [outside of family and close friends] on my life that i loved them, and only 1 that i'm in love with them. the first person was a mistake and i didn't really love them, so then i made sure i wouldn't tell anyone else that unless i thought about it and made sure i really did, and that it wasn't just some infatuation with a new romance.
i'm 17, so if you consider that 'a kid'.. oh well, i can say with confidence that i love my current boyfriend. we spend almost every day together and i never get tired of it, even when we don't really do much. haha, i always joke that i'm surprised he's not tired of me yet.. >_< i really do believe that i'm in love with him, and i mean it for real this time.
so yes, even 'kids' can be in love, they just may not always be reading the emotions correctly.
