If, and only if, they are terminally ill. An interesting story: The man who publicized assisted suicide in the US, nicknamed Dr Death, recently died. He was terminally ill, and when one of his friends asked Dr. Death if he, the friend, would like to help him committ suicide, he laughed and asked, why would I want to do that?

I agree for both. If someone is terminally ill, they should have the right to choose to die. I know some people may say that it is against their religious views, and if that's how they feel, then they don't have to go for assisted suicide themselves. But I feel that everyone should have the right to make their own choices with these kinds of matters.

For humans, I think it's okay if they're suffering from an incurable disease and know they will die anyway. As for the assisted suicide part, I really don't see why people would do it, but I guess if you're GOING to kill yourself, that's better than standing in front of a train or something (like someone in my town did recently and a lot of people saw it and were probably scarred for life). It's the person's decision, it's not like anyone's making them do it, and they should have that choice. I wish the suicide part didn't happen, but it does, and me as a single person can't do much about that.

For animals, I also think it's fine if the animal is obviously suffering. But it shouldn't be used every time an animal shows any signs of an illness (which I don't think happens anyway) just to control the animal population.
