Default Banning Names

New Zealand bans weird baby names – Global Public Square - CNN.com Blogs

Should weird baby names be banned? I believe that it's just a name. But, if it was something sexual or a swear word or anything to that context, the name should be banned.

Before anything else, I have to say, this name:

I don't even know why these parents would consider some of these names. 89? As a name? Really? Be creative, fine, but there's a fine line between that and stupid. Not to mention possibly scarring your child.

I don't think people should get too ban happy with things. Yes, some of the names are ridiculous. But I don't think that they're that much of a threat that we should ban them. Unless, of course it's universally offensive, than maybe a ban is needed.

I don't think they should be banned. I mean, I would understand if names like "Adolf Hitler" were on the list, but most of them aren't THAT bad. Not any names I would give my kids, but not terrible, offensive names.

I think ridiculous names should be banned, yes, but then again, I'm an onomastics nerd.

lol @ Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116, pronounced Albin

Well, if they're completely and totally absurd, like this one Chinese kid I heard about being named '@', then yes, they should be banned. Don't really care about other names that much though.
