My last thread was ruined (in part) by someone who was offended by a word.
It's just a word.
What are some words that offend you, and why?
Personally, no words offend me. It's really stupid, imo, to think that someone's empty words could be offensive.

Zach, your being very careless and rude at the moment. I understand your logic as I too don't find such words offensive, BUT OTHER PEOPLE DO. Just because you don't find something offensive, doesn't mean that others feel the same way.
The only thing I find offensive currently is your ignorance of other peoples' feelings.
Omg! I cannot believe my eyes! How can you be so rude? You really need to learn to care about other peoples feelings. How dare you be so racist and saying 'they gotta die'. I know you're just using it as an example, but you're being really pathetic and selfish.
The N word is really the only word I stay away from. I don't know why, guess it's just me. I don't ever say it, but my friend just lets it fly off his lips when joking around, and I laugh.
I've gotten to the point where I laugh when I'm insulted. I get disappointing if it's not clever though. I've heard it all, so nothing insults me anymore, and nothing's offensive to me.
Keeping focused on the question here..I don't find any particular words offensive just by people saying them. I rarely get offended but that's because I'm more likely to get into a debate with them and I find it more satisfying to prove them wrong and make them feel bad for saying something potentially offensive to anyone....
People should be more considerate, really.
Not really fair to say well "Why are you offended, just a word?" Well, words can be offensive depending on their usage. Some people really take things to heart and nobody should say that they shouldn't because it's "only a word". They should be able to get on with life without having to deal with people who throw around hurtful words carelessly.
Uh, yeah. I see where you're coming from and I understand but not everyone can be that way I guess. I know you're not trying to be selfish or anything but you should remember that not everyone can take things like that with a pinch of salt and let it go over their heads.
To say "The N Word" in place of the ACTUAL Word is MORE offensive than the actual word.
Honestly, if I said THE N WORD, what pops into your head...THE REAL WORD!!! So we're just finding another way to say a word that is still the exact same word.
To me personally? Words don't offend me. The way people use them might offend me, but the actual words themselves don't offend me.
When people call something gay or retarded, they don't HATE gay people or retarded people, they're just using the word.
