I remember the terror that swept the nation. I remember being in 5th grade and having my teacher turn on the television and the entire class watched the news as the second plane hit the building. School let out early that day.
I remember going home to find my family all up in fear because I have an aunt who lives in NYC and we were unable to reach her for the longest of time. And her office was a block away from the twin towers. But thankfully, by some luck that day, she had taken the day off of work.
I also remember the address given by President George W. Bush that night when he united the country and made the resolve to go after the terrorists who would attack us in such a way.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love."
- Washington Irving
i was in school, i think about the 5th grade. there was an announcement that came over the loudspeaker for teachers to turn the televisions on. and everyone watched the news. then about a half hour later, school was dismissed. my gram came to my class and then went to my sisters class, she looked like she was about to cry. and she took us home. (my gram worked in the same school.) and she sat on the couch watching the news all day. me and and my sister didnt quite understan what was going on. all we knew is that something bad had happened.
My respect goes out to all those that died and to all the families that lost someone. Sad loss of human life really. Tragic day.
However, I will refrain from revealing what I remember about that day because tests have shown that memory of events such as that are often skewed and not that accurate.
I just remember hearing about it in school, but being 9 and not having much knowledge about this sort of thing, i really didn't know what was going on. Not just me, but most of the class too.
I think they sent us home early or something. And keep in mind that I live in Texas, so this happened far away from where I live.
Anyway, so at home, later that night, we were watching TV and after watching it all I remember never being quite the same mentally again. Seeing that made me grow up much more than I already had. Although I can't quite explain how.
But ever since then I've spent much more time with my father, learning about the world and how important events like these are.
So, while I wasn't there, even not fully understanding it, it effected me greatly at that time.

I was too young to remember when it first happened, but it was a tragedy and I give my sympathies and respect to all of the families affected by it and the people who lost their lives.
My mum came to collect me from school then she told me and i remember the exact spot i was at when she told me and i just got goosebumps, even though she only said a plane had crashed not like terrorism, i knew something was weird.
I find it really stranfge how i know the exact spoton my street where i found it out.
I remember everything about that day. I think I was 8. One thing I remember so well was the car ride to my school that morning.
At that time I lived about 2-3 miles outside of Boston and Logan Airport where some of the planes were hijacked. I didn't find out about the planes hitting the WTC I think until around 9:30. All day in class I heard sirens, every single minute a firetruck or police car would go by. Come to find out they were responding to secure the oil tankers in the city and in the next city over I guess there was a threat of a plane crashing into a large fuel container.
Around 10:30am some of my friends were getting picked up which then I started to get concerned. As the day wore on we were informed nearly every hour. On a usual day my grandfather would pick me up from school, but my parents were there with a concerned look. Thats when I knew something was wrong. While I was walking back to the car a few F-15 fighter jets flew over.
Lastly, I remember that night. We were watching the news and all of a sudden we heard more fighter jets. They were chasing a small plane that was flying over my house, I believe they landed the plane at the airport.
