I don't think I've seen enough studies (sociologically and economically speaking) to make up my decision on this issue. But I would warn about legalizing it for the fact that there are definite cons that are associated with marijuana use and legalization. As to whether they outweigh the pros, I think requires further investigation. I don't know if there's enough data out there to really tell if the pros or the cons are more prevalent.
Maybe the only reason you think it must be legal is because you take drugs and you like it... not because you think it is angelic and you have some Nonsense "Reasons" , yeah they say Cig is good too .... Maybe now ill hear that Heroin is good too-.- .. The thing is Simple... its up to the person... You like it = You say it is ok , You dont = you say it isnt... NO need to say around that it is ok! and let them know that its "OK!" and it must be legal! , thats your personal opinion (its kay saying your opinion as long as it Doesnt affect others), sometimes you need to Keep it for your self "because" => its like telling " Do take Marijuana its ok!" , it sounds like that .. (In General , im not talking about NOW and this thread... im talking in general)
im glad it is not legal here...
YES i dont like drugs
i have NO problem with people who take Drugs
YES i have problem when people try to "Get" others into Drugs ( i didnt say you do... making that clear)
Pheww... now dont take anything Personally... i posted this In general for the Future Comments.. Nothing personal , not an Answer to anyone..
OT now : NO !
Anybody can become angry , Thats really easy ...
but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.
But, to enumerate the normal reasoning for and against:
For:
1) Taxation
2) Free chouce
3) Not as harmful as other drugs.
4) Less lethal then alcohol
5) People want to smoke pot.
Against:
1) Still a drug.
2) Gateway to other hardcore drugs/habits
3) Taxation is outweighed by addiction
Too add to the enumeration:
For:
6) There are viable medicinal uses for marijuana
7) The drug war is expensive. Legalization can cut down on costs and free up resources (mostly USA specific but can be extended to other nations to a degree)
Against:
4.) There are negative effects (especially long term) on the health of regular users (some of them much more major than others).
The only thing about it that is reeally bad about it when you smoke it..because smoke is never good for your lungs.. I don't think calling it a gateway drug is very accurate either. I've smoke pot a couple times with a friend and for one, I've never felt really high, and it's never made me want to try other hardcore drugs. Just relaxes you, makes me sleepy to be honest. It isn't addictive so I don't really get why everyone thinks it mades you want other harmful drugs.

Hmm. I've heard a few people say that before. The problem lays with the fact that to go from a personal experience to a generalization isn't always accurate. The only reason I bring it up is because of the following statistic (When I first read it, I did my own statistical analysis and it looks like a pretty sound statistic for the most part):
Children from ages 12-17 who use Marijuana are 85% more likely to use a harder drug, such as cocaine. (I think that I read that in Taking Sides: Drugs and Society)
If that fact is true, then it can certainly be seen as a gateway drug. And there are other correlations out there that need to be analyzed more.
i don't smoke weed, but i do think it should be legal.
1. i think there should be regulations just as it is on drinking alcohol/ smoking a cig. i honestly don't see how smoking weed is worse than either of the 2.
2. it has beneficial medicine purposes ex: increasing the appetite of a cancer patient
3. it would free up the jails and have more room and resources for people who actually should be in jail
4. it could provide a lot of jobs and help improve the economic status
5. many times when someone buys weed now, it is laced with something else such as cocaine, if weed were legal and being distributed in a legal matter, it would be more controlled and less likely to have other things added to it.
that's all i have for right now, if i think of more i will come back.
here's katt williams take on weed... i've seen it at least 100+ times, and i still laugh every time.
