Should English, or the primary language in any nation, be made the official language?
"A toothache, or a violent passion, is not necessarily diminished by our knowledge of its causes, its character, its importance or insignificance".- T.S. Eliot
Obviously Apple, if a corporation wants to make money, they need to be available for clientele from MANY different countries with MANY different languages. That's economics.
I think that people in the USA should speak mother fucking English and speak whatever ching-chong language they want at home or at private gatherings. Not in fucking public. This is america, you came here and we supported and accepted you, so show a little appreciation and speak English. If that came across as racist then I guess i'm a racist.
english should be the official language in america. i don't 100% agree with pokemon master about the "speak whatever ching-chong language they want at home or at private gatherings. Not in fucking public", but they should be able to speak enough english to speak it to others in public. i don't think native english speakers in their own home country should have to be looked at like some other species for speaking the language that is mainly spoken there, instead of going out of their way to understand the ones who refuse to learn the language.
The way I see it, I shouldn't have to accommodate another language because you can't learn or use the primary spoken language.
Just speak enough to communicate effectively.

this said it much better than i explained it.. yes.
If you're talking about making it the official language of the nation, I don't think it matters. Studies have shown that it only has a noticeable effect when the language being declared official is a minority language which English is not.
My issue is that a lot of times, I'll notice foreign people speaking whatever language and then turn around to me and speak to me in perfect English. I mean, if you can understand and speak it, why not use it?
I see it a lot working in retail and I think it's very rude when people come in my line speaking another language amongst themselves in front of me. It looks suspicious like they're hiding something or saying something that they don't want me to know about.

So you're saying you want to take away peoples right to speak whatever language they want amongst themselves for the sake of your "suspicion"?
