Default Medvedev backs Putin for another presidential run

http://articles.cnn.com/2011-09-24/w...n?_s=PM:EUROPE

A little late but anyways.. The current president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, will step aside and allow the current prime minister, Vladimir Putin, to run for president as the candidate for United Russia (which consists of about 45% of the population). This all but guarantees another term for the former two term President who could possibly be in office until 2024. Medvedev was elected after Putin backed him after he reached his term limit. People saw Medvedev as nothing but a seat warmer for Putin to allow him to get around the term limit. There is mixed opinion about this decision especially in the west. While Western international relations with Russia were improving under Medvedev, people fear that Putin's return to power could possibly deteriorate any progress made in this area. Some people even say that this could revert Russia to a more Authoritarian rule as seen in the Soviet Union.

Any thoughts about this?

Default Re: Medvedev backs Putin for another presidential run

Vlad Putin will work in the best interest of the Russian people. This means improved relations with China, increased oil drilling, and a desire for increased dominance in the Eastern European region. Personally, I find Putin a capable leader, and will work his damnedest to get it together.

I have no opinion, really. Leave the Russians e til they want to blow us up.
